Howard Stern For American Idol? Simon Cowell Doesn’t Agree!

Howard SternSIMON Cowell doesn’t think shock jock Howard Stern is the right candidate to replace him as a judge on American Idol.

Cowell reckons Stern — who’s rumored to be in talks to fill the music mogul’s spot on the TV talent show — doesn’t have the experience to sit in his seat.

“You’ve just got to know what you’re talking about,” said Cowell, who leaves Idol at the end of its current season to launch the American edition of his UK TV talent show The X Factor.

“We have to have people on these shows who actually know what they’re talking about, rather than just guessing. They’ve really got to have experience, so that they can not just criticize, but offer constructive advice as well.”

Cowell, 50, said he was “fairly certain” Stern hasn’t been approached by Idol producers about becoming a judge.

“The good news for [the producers] is that there’s no shortage of candidates,” he said.

“You’re never going to pick anyone as good as you are, are you?

“That’s why I don’t think anybody [at Fox] really asks me that question.”

    Simon Cowell was American Idol. Without him, it will never be the same. His honesty was usually on the mark and he was the best critic. He knew what he was talking about. The next guy in there is going to have to fill big boots. Idol isn’t going to hold up with all these negative changes, sorry.I know I’ve lost interest since that first babe replaced Paula; can’t stand her.
