J.K. ROWLING SHOOTS DOWN “ABSURD” PLAGIARISM CLAIMS

MILLIONAIRE author J.K. Rowling has been forced to hit back at “absurd” claims she stole another British author’s ideas for a Harry Potter best-seller.
Rowling is facing an d estimate$800 million lawsuit over accusations she plagiarized ideas from the late children’s writer Adrian Jacobs.
Lawyers acting for his estate have added Rowling to a writ first filed against her UK publishers Bloomsbury in London last June. They allege Mr Jacobs’ 1987 book The Adventures of Willy the Wizard: No1 Livid Land was copied in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire published in 2000.
Bloomsbury said Jacobs’ Australian-based estate first approached it in 2004. Rowling said Thursday the claims were “not only unfounded but absurd”.
“We will be applying to the court immediately for a ruling that the claim is without merit and should be dismissed,” she added.
