Adam Lambert: ‘Susan Boyle is Terrible’

Adam LambertADAM Lambert has launched a scathing attack on fellow talent show contestant Susan Boyle.

The American Idol runner-up says the Britain’s Got Talent star massacred Rolling Stones’ Wild Horses when she covered it and he almost “died” laughing when he heard Boyle’s version for the first time.

Lambert’s debut album, For Your Entertainment, was beaten to the number one spot in America by Boyle’s album I Dreamed A Dream last year.

“If only it weren’t for Susan Boyle! I’m happy for her success, but that album is terrible,” Lambert said.

“Wild Horses is the one that made me laugh the hardest. I just died when I heard it, I was crying with laughter. It was the most horrendous, sacrilegious treatment of that song!

“Still, when my album charted, it was validating. I was feeling bit attacked, like I had to vindicate something. I thought: ‘Wow, look what I did.’”

    What nonsense this is rumour is… Adam would never ever trash a fellow performer like this. He is much too nice a human being to do so… I wish this habit of misquoting and trashing Adam would go away… Get your quotes correct!!!! I listened to some of Boyle’s album and the part about it being boring IS correct. Adam’s FYE is exciting and creative, not tracks of boring covers.

    Please retract this statement…..This is not true. Why do you print things before verification. Adam Lambert is getting misquoted in Tabloids constantly, there should be some recourse for him. The media prints whatever they want to create havoc..I am sick of it. Way too much of this going on. I know this gets you hits on your websites, but downright falsification will not keep your readers coming back once they find out that most of what you report is false. I hope someday someone sues your butts, might teach you a good lesson.

    Adam’s CD was #3 in sales that week, beaten by Susan Boyle and Andrea Bocelli. Even if Susan hadn’t sold as well, Adam’s CD would still not have been #1.

    How do people here know he didn’t say this? I looked at Adam’s tweets. He didn’t deny this statement. Not at all. It’s a magazine interview, not a tabloid. I don’t know why everyone is screaming about him being misquoted. He didn’t deny saying Susan Boyle’s CD is terrible. In fact, he didn’t deny anything.

      Should Adam Lambert give credibility to every lie out there expressed about him? If he spent all his time defending himself, he’d never get anything else done. It’s not the first time, and it’s not the last time this will happen. Good for him that he can laugh about it!

    OMG, just look at him.
    Only a woman working from a street corner wears that much makeup.
    He was so certain that his record was going to be huge. So were his of fans.
    They were in for the shock of their lives.
    It isn’t Boyle’s fault that she sold so many CD’s and he didn’t.
    He tried his best to be the best too, it just didn’t happen that way.

    Adam is a man that won’t watch the episodes of American Idol in the beginning because he doesn’t like artists being made fun of and not moving on after they put so much time and energy in their dreams. I’ve heard those words from his lips. He said he is misquoted in this article and I believe him. The part where he is happy for Susan’s success I believe. The part where he doesn’t like her interpretation of “Wild Horses” I can believe. The other part where he cried from laughter, and said the whole album was terrible is not him. You should note that a person from the UK said that this particular author
    does not like Susan Boyle and has said so before. It seems like he put some of his colorful opinion into this article.

    @clr, I agree that he doesn’t like Wild Horses. He mocked it before on a radio show.
    Sorry, stupid move. That song has been given rave reviews, even Jagger loved it.
    These celebrities need to stop mocking Boyle just to get their name in print because it always comes back to haunt them. Every time.
    I don’t care if people like Boyle’s music or they don’t, although obviously many do.
    The point is that she has NEVER ridiculed anyone. Never. And people are pretty darn sick and tired of seeing her made into a punching bag. All that she’s ever done and all that she wants to do is sing.

    Who knows what he did or didn’t say.
    He should issue a statement.

    They’re CD’s were released the same day.
    He was outsold by Boyle 15:1.
    Lambert: 2 Gold
    Boyle: 14 Gold, 53 Platinum
    (I might be off slightly, but this is still a pretty good indicator)

    For his sake, I really hope that he didn’t say that her CD was terrible because that would really make him look foolish.
    Let’s see if we hear more from him on the subject.

      I’m sure much of that is due to the fact that Adam, an openly gay man, lives in country that still has a large number of bigoted people who would rather buy an album of predominantly covers buy a middle aged church going spinster, than support new music from a young gay man. I don’t own either of their albums but if forced to choose I would pick Lamberts.

    Maybe this rag misquoted Adam and took it out of context but this one (at the end of my post) is a respectable magazine in the UK. Adam’s jealousy may cost him many Susan Boyle fans that were very tolerant of him before this interview. Poor little boy, he doesn’t have a clue!

    @Nina, whether he said that she’s terrible or the CD is terrible, there isn’t all the much difference.
    The fact is that’s insulting to everyone that bought and loves the CD.
    If he’s innocent, he’d be out there denying it. His pretty lame tweet tells me he’s guilty as charged.
    He’s entitled to his opinion, and he’s entitled to speak his mind.
    He’s going to pay for it though.

    No way this is true! I have heard every interview Adam has done and he has never said anything bad about anyone. He is a very positive person and always goes out of his way to say something nice, even when it’s not deserved. He also promotes other artists. Why would anyone believe this rag mag? Besides Adam has already disputed this on his twitter stating that he was misquoted…and if he sounds nonchalant about it it’s probably because he has to deal with this kind of crap repeatedly.

After I read the first sentence there was no way I could take the rest of the article seriously. I mean really, Adam gave the interview while in his PJs??? He is way too fashion savvy to do something like that!

      I have heard every interview with Adam and this sounds nothing like him. In addition, I have met him and he is very sweet…and far from a diva! When I was walking up to him he said, “Oh, I love your outfit!”….HE complimented ME!!! And this wasn’t him rushing down a line signing autographs, it was at a backstage meet and greet where I watched him interact with his fans for almost an hour, so I am speaking of his character from personal experience. What are you basing your comments on?
