Adam LambertADAM Lambert admits he used to go out to bars, get wasted and take home a stranger.

The American Idol runner-up says he can relate to the lyrics of his new song Soaked — which was written by Muse — because he knows what it’s like to be in a “dark place”.

“I love the song; lyrically I feel I can relate to it,” Lambert told British magazine Gay Times. “From a dark place, it’s about that viscous circle of going out and trying to fill a void by getting laid, but doing it by getting wasted in a bar and going home with somebody.

“That’s what it’s about for me. I’ve been through that: I’m 27 years old and I’ve lived a life where I was looking for something… for meaning, or love, but looking for it in the wrong way.”

Lambert recently hit out at Britain’s Got Talent star Susan Boyle, whose album, I Dreamed A Dream, beat his debut release to the top spot in America.

“If only it weren’t for Susan Boyle! I’m happy for her success, but that album is terrible,” Lambert said.

“Wild Horses is the one that made me laugh the hardest. I just died when I heard it, I was crying with laughter. It was the most horrendous, sacrilegious treatment of that song!

“Still, when my album charted, it was validating. I was feeling bit attacked, like I had to vindicate something. I thought: ‘Wow, look what I did.’”

      Um, he tweeted that yes, he was miquoted, but also that he’s entitled to his opinion and he’d rather be honest than be PC. Said PC was boring and being honest was sexy. Ok, so he obviously said something not flattering about SuBo. But if he says he was misquoted, and thinks’ honesty is sexy’ why not be honest and tell us what he really said? Listen ppl, like it or not, Adam is a commercial commody now. He has PR ppl telling him to not say any more on this cause he DID say something negative and he has this ‘nice guy’ image (as is being displayed by his fans defending him saying he would NEVER say bad things about another artist) Yeah, he did. By his own admissin he implies it. He’s entitled to say what he wants, but we are also entitled to call him on it. Especially on the phoney he is. Up to date, he’s been portraying himself as this ‘believes in respect and karma’. Remeber what he said on ellen? That he would NEVER disrespect anyone? And on Oprah? He had praise for Susan who was on with him. Then he critizes her cd? Which HE DID. That’s not in question, the only thing in question is HOW he critized her. Being misquoted is not the same as not saying something similiar.

    Why is Adam a target for hatred? As far as Adam critiquing SB’s performances- I don’t believe that he would be that abrasive. He does have a right to voice his opinion.

    Adam has a lot of fans because of his voice his talent and his beauty.He is allready a star and he did enter in showbussines by the front door , but there are a lot who has no enough talent and want to do the same but into the back door. Otherwise he is a cellebritie who sales very well media. That’s all about in my opinion.

    Yes, READ the LA Times article referenced just above. There was context, and some other very interesting points made not only in the LA Times article itself but also by the “commentors” who posted. As one said, unless I hear an audio or video of the interview, I’m inclined to give Lambert a little leeway. He has shown in interview after interview after interview to actually be quite considerate. I don’t expect everyone to consume as much media as Lambert fans do, and so they are not familiar with him on anything but a sound-bite level, as is the case in so much of society today, but Lambert is continuously respectful and decent towards others in appearnce after appearance and if he weren’t authentically those things, he would have faltered long before now. British rags are historically known for sacrificing truth for sales, even more so than US “fluff” outlets, well known fact. And Gay Times has a long record of an “agenda” against Lambert. The blogosphere picked up on the more negative side of this story FOR HITS to their sites, plain and simple, no mystery here!

    Long after AI he is still awesome. Funny how the media is so adept at stretching truths and non-truths. Get your act together and quote people correctly. I equate Adam to Van Gogh, the average person is not ready for him because he is unique so they try to bring him down. Those of us who can see above this are ready for him.     No way this is true! I have heard every interview Adam has done and this sounds nothing like him! He is a very positive person and always goes out of his way to say something nice, and makes a habit of promoting other artists. Besides Adam has already disputed this on his twitter stating that he was misquoted…and if he sounds nonchalant about it, it’s probably because he has to deal with this kind of crap repeatedly.

    I have met him and he is very sweet…and far from a diva! When I was walking up to him he said, “Oh, I love your outfit!”….HE complimented ME!!! This was at a backstage meet and greet where I watched him interact with his fans for almost an hour, so I am speaking of his character from personal experience.

    Just because it’s in print on the internet, it’s the gospel? Yeah, right! Every media source that has picked up on this “story” and ran with it needs to make a retraction and issue Adam an apology!

    Adam is always respectful and gracious. He has a good sense of humor. His “if only it wasn’t for Susan Boyle!” was said laughing. (I can see him smiling and shaking his fist in mock anger). Adam has said she is an amazing singer. He is talking about how great singers can come off a reality show and be given material that is not really the best for them. He album would have sold if it had only one song on it, her story is that compelling to ppl. But, it isn’t very good and music awards shows are ignoring it in Britain and here. Adam should not have said what he said, but he has complimented her singing every time he is asked about her. He just didn’t like what they made her sing on her cd. Adam is kind and considerate in every interview. This was taken out of context.

    Even though Adam has made it very clear this is a total misquote the tabloids don’t care. Small rags like this need attention so what better way than to use ADams name and then write a negative headline, it draws more attention than using a nice headline, and of course the non self respecting haters that love to hate Adam, get the fuel for the ugliness. Who cares, let them wallow in their stench, people who harsh on and judge another without really knowing the truth dont’ care, they ridicule, but the best psychology tells us that those riducule and hate in others is what they fear is in themselves, so feel sorry for these poor souls, their lives must really suck. Adam is known for focusing on the positive, he won’t let this affect him. These tabloids are akin to the Enquirer, and the haters are again so easily led.

    What is funny about this is Adam is so gracious during interviews, has no problem shaking hands with and hugging his fans as well as taking photos with them. He seems like a genuine person and yet the media claims he would “slam” a fellow singer. Do the British rags hate Adam or Susan more. Because they may actually be the ones who don’t care for Susan Boyle and conveniently used Adam as there scapegoat.

    If you do not realize that the Press misquotes people all the time, you are foolish, I do however wish Adam would learn that his words will be twisted and used against him. He is wonderful, beautiful and so very talented, lets hope the media hype does not destroy him.

    I don’t know if Adam Lambert said this statement or perhaps it is chopped and out of context to what he really said. However it is not nearly as bad as comments made by posters all over the blogoshpere regarding Adam. Those bashing him for this are the many of the same people slamming him any chance they get. You love him or hate him, but slamming someone for a remark and then comment with the same or worse kind of remark about the person makes you a hypocrite!

    I have to assume that Adam Lambert is stupid. He’s been promoted more than anyone coming off a reality show, ever, and all he does is screw up. He’s made a good job of alienating America, outside of his immediate fanbase, and so he’s being given an opportunity to promote himself (shouldn’t that read ‘promote his music’?) in Europe.       the “poor old lady” excuse is getting old. if subo can’t handle criticism or honest opinions, she shouldn’t have auditioned for that show. that’s just the way the entertainment industry works and not her age nor her appearance should make anyone go any easier on her.

    They are already reporting that he was misquoted in that article about laughing at Susan…..they claim he laughed when he heard that she did a Rolling Stones song, and said it would be funny to hear it….not that he laughed at her personally(or attacked her as a person), who is another talented lady.

    Personally i think the press love to attack them both, Adam for being flamboyent, and perhaps gay…..and Susan for being who she was before she was discovered.

    I go on these sites to get news on Adam because I’m a huge fan. All I read is most of the time is negativity and trash about him, how you guys make a living as writers is beyond me, I see you never left a name at the end of your article. He was misquoted by a U.K. magazine(pink) U.K.’s version of national enquirer, (the british sun is another one to look for) Adam is such a gracious guy he would never malign anyone.So you’ve never had a one night stand or gone out one night thinking you might get lucky (assuming you’re male) must be the only guys on the planet who’s never picked up a stranger in a bar, or at least tried to.
