Whitney Houston Refuses to Quit Smoking

Sunday, February 28, 2010

Whitney HoustonWHITNEY Houston refuses to quit smoking — and that’s why her voice is faltering, according to the singer’s tour promoter.

Whitney came under fire earlier this week after her Nothing But Love tour drew complaints from Australian audiences who claimed the star has been struggling to complete her sets.

The Heartbreak Hotel hitmaker allegedly wheezed her way through a show in Brisbane, taking regular breaks to catch her breath, while fans are reported to have walked out of her concert in Sydney when the singer’s voice began to crack.

Amid rumors of ill health, Andrew McManus insists Whitney’s smoking habit is to blame for her breathing difficulties.

“Whitney smokes. God bless her, I can’t tell her not to,” said McManus. “She will not take any substances. She just will not. It is what it is. She’s comfortable with the show she’s performing. She knows she’s not hitting every note like she used to. But it’s value for money, it’s Whitney Houston warts and all.

“I talked to her after the Sydney show. I told her I have her back but she said, ‘If the good Lord wants me to be attacked and ridiculed that’s the road I have to go down.’

“It’s an interesting approach. Here I am being aggressive in trying to protect her and she said, ‘I love you for it but let it go. I can only give my best, if that’s not good enough, so be it. I’m comfortable in my own skin.’”

It was recently claimed that Whitney’s friends fear she is back in drugs.

The singer — who’s publicly admitted to battling drugs for years — has allegedly been displaying the same sketchy behavior that blighted her once blazing hot career.

“Everyone is worried about her,” a source said in December last year. “Whitney seems to go from being a nervous wreck to being completely out of it in a short period of time — just like she did when she was freebasing and using crack cocaine.

“She is still drinking and with Whitney, alcohol and drugs have always gone hand-in-hand. She’s worked so hard to get back on top. It would be tragic for it to go up in smoke because she can’t stay clean.

“You can’t help worrying that she’s slipped back into some of her bad habits.”

Whitney is great, the ‘bad perforamnces’ that have been reported are way out of context and blown out of all proportion. Whitney’s show is magical America go buy ‘worth it’ rest of the world go buy ‘nothing but love’ both are amazing tunes. Her album ‘ I look to you’ is a dream everyone will love ‘Salute’

And I must Concur with Aleet, Whitney is not as bad as the media would have you believe Whitney is in fine condition and the sad thing is this is only for this show with the breathing problems, She Showed out in Moscow, Tokyo, Seoul, in all those places but you won’t hear the good is all about the bad, leave her the hell alone! She is happy and thats all that counts!

  • Please…she was horrible.

    She refuses to quit smoking…Crack.
Cigarette smoke doesn’t affect you that much and if it did, then she deserves what she gets going out there and not caring what her voice sounds like while charging that much money to her fans. Once, when she was respected, being Whitney Houston was enough to justify that amount of money. It isn’t anymore. She needs to get herself together or go the hell home.

The folks who paid $165 and up to watch drug addict, washed up, has been Whitney Houston perform must be smoking drugs. Whitney Houston refuses to quit smoking cocaine mixed with marijuana and/or stinky cigarettes?

I was there at the Sydney show and Whitney was Phenomenal!!! Yes she missed some high notes but who cares, she gave us her all and it showed. Her energy was AMAZING and she interacted superbly with the audience. I paid nearly $250 for me and my girlfriend and we had a fantastic time, we’d definitely go and see Whitney again. Don’t tell my girlfriend, but for a 46 year old woman, Whitney’s smoking hot!

I think Aleet is correct; so called “bad performances” are being blown out of proportion. Whitney is a high profile recording act and the media’s job is to get you to tune in, so they’re going to take the smallest thing and run with it. Notice no comments about all the other concerts; that’s because they’re good and good news doesn’t sell as much as bad news will. And as far as tickets costing $165, that’s really an industry thing not a Whitney Houston thing. And really, she’s been on the music scene for almost 30 years so she can charge whatever she wants. You either pay it or you don’t. And if you don’t care about seeing a particular artist, no matter who they are, their ticket prices shouldn’t bother you anyway. And yes, she should quit smoking cigarrettes. But if it’s the choice between her smoking cigarettes or slipping back into a drug addiction, then obviously she’s gonna smoke cigarrettes. I’ve known someone who had a drug addiction and quit, but still smoked cigarettes. They said the cigarettes can act as a ctruch and prevent them from not doing drugs again. Who are we to judge? As long as they are staying clean, that’s the important thing. And though Whitney may not sing like she’s 25 years old anymore, she definitely still has the voice and experience to handle herself on stage. Most artists today don’t even tour. They just make albums with studio trickery to sound better, so I give Whitney credit for touring… and singing live on all those dates.

Whitney doesn’t seem to be keeping too healthy lately. That latest fiasco in Europe was embarrassing. I hope she keeps her health up because I miss the Bodyguard days and a set of lungs that really were beautiful.

Thought I would supplement the list of tips here and bring in one of my own:

Fully utilize your resource box. Many people only put one link when they are offered two.

Why? If you have the ability to put two links in the box you should. Put a link of a product you are promoting and a link to your actual website.

You are getting the credit for the clicks and double your chances of getting someone to click on them!

Oh , I love her songs when she was young and responsible for having so many fans, but now she is changed, no voice, no character. She does not take care of her health and her voice. too bad!
