KRISTEN Stewart has Jodie Foster to thank for her role in upcoming movie The Yellow Handkerchief.

According to reports, Foster — who starred opposite Kristen in 2002 movie Panic Room — convinced producer Arthur Cohn to hire the 19-year-old actress before she had appeared in Twilight.

“Arthur was the one who mentioned Kristen and Jodie said, ‘Oh my God, she would be great’,” a source revealed.

“It wasn’t her idea. But Jodie did say that Kristen would be really good for it.”

“Nobody wanted me to take [Stewart] in the part of Martine,” Cohn added.

“She was practically an unknown. But Jodie Foster, a close friend, urged me to take her. So I took her.”

However, director Udayan Prasad claimed that he had already auditioned Stewart before Foster intervened.

“She has a terrific presence, Kirsten does,” he said. “She walked into the room. You just sensed something, like, ‘Who is that person?’ Art probably talked to Jodie Foster after we had met Kristen.”
