Helena Bonham Carter: ‘It’s My Responsibility to Dress Badly’
HELENA Bonham Carter says the British press always criticize her fashion sense — but insists it’s her “responsibility” to dress badly.
The actress — who raises two children with longtime partner Tim Burton — says her style choices are often treated like “criminal acts” at home in the UK.
“I’m in the stocks perpetually in the UKĀ — They say, ‘What is she wearing now? How dare she?’ Like, criminal acts,” said Helena.
“Now I feel like I have a reputation to keep. I have a responsibility now to dress badly, so it’s kind of liberating.”
Helena, 43, also revealed what she’s planning to wear to the Oscars.
“I’ve got nothing to lose now, so Vivienne Westwood and I have come up with something,” she said.
“It was basically a rough dress I was going to wear, made of canvas — the one they make before they make the proper dress. I said, ‘Can I just wear this?’ “They’re going to paint it
