Adam Lambert: ‘I Don’t Think of Myself as Controversial’

Adam LambertADAM Lambert doesn’t see himself as controversial.

The American Idol runner-up — who’s known for his outrageous performances and sexy onstage antics — insists he doesn’t set out to shock.

“I don’t think of myself as controversial — that’s not what’s going through my head when I’m getting ready,” he said.

“To me, it’s like I get to play dress-up for a living! I like to wear crazy clothes and make-up and do the whole glam thing. I think a little androgyny is really interesting and it’s a part of who I am. So I don’t think of myself as controversial — that’s everyone else’s job!”

“I’m a contemporary popstar who draws a lot from the past,” Adam added. “I have a lot of ’70s and ’80s influences and I’m inspired by some of the philosophies of the late ’60s as well. That hippy mentality and psychedelic open-mindedness is something that appeals to me.

“People like David Bowie and Freddie Mercury are my major influences as a vocalist and as a frontman, in addition to people like Prince and Michael Jackson of course.”

    I don’t think Adam is open minded as he says cause if he was he wouldn’t have pick on susan boyle music and say that he can’t listern to her ablum. Why must he pick on susan she didn’t do anything to him. Adam is a jerk and he needs to keep his mouth shout. I can see by next year we won’t even hear from adam anymore once the new american idol wins. I can see why kris allen was crown the american idol. He has a better radion vioce that can sing soft rock, rock and pop. Adam screams alot when he sing and who want to listern to someone who abuse dugs and alchol and sound like a girl. He need to be the real him and only play dress up for his job not outside of the work place. When people start to see the real adam they are giong to know why he never got discove. If he was such a nice person, people from wick would have spoke up for him and say how great his is. but instead noone did only the people from the zodaic show respond. So that means alot of people don’t know him or thinks he is as nice as he says. cause when you are nice people will back you up from past jobs to friends. you don’t even hear his brother saying that he is such a nice person and that is sad.

      I think you are very narrow minded person, judging other person the way you are when you really don’t know Adam Lambert. You should check other sites what really open minded people say about Adam Lambert. He said “misquoted again.” I noticed many media try to make a bad publish about Adam. If you don’t like Adam’s music, that’s fine. But don’t try to make your own story about him. Adam does a lot of good thing for the community and he is really kind person if you get to know him. The time will tell, however I hope some media stop bashing him as the way they did to Michael Jackson. “Peace and Love” please.

    Oh get over it will you. There are a lot of people who do not like Susan’s record and it does not make them bad. Kris won Idol but the public is not that interested in his bland style of music. Rock for Kris, I don’t think so. Calling Adam names will not turn us against him. He is a major talent and lots of people and media came to his defense. Rants by sad and unhappy idiots will not take away the beauty that we see in the charming and talented Adam Lambert. And stop pretending that you know anything about his brother cause you don’t.

    Adam has the Greatest voice in Pop/dance/Rock since Freddie Mercury, thank god we discovered him. Kris is adorable a John Mayer type, how many of those do we need. I have been so surprised by the amount of Haters out there, Adam never Screams/Screeches, he hits every note Perfectly. I’v loved many types of music from latin to doowop but would never listen to a song by Susan Boyle all the way through. Adam will be in History books one Day.

    I’m so sick of these narrow-minded people dishing the most nicest,talented, geniuine singer to come around in decades. It’s all because he’s gay, admit it! Well, Adam is here to stay and will be a superstar no matter what your think. They are embracing him in the U.K and everywhere else, America wake up and stop acting like a consertive way right republican!
