Anne Hathaway Inspired by Debbie Harry

Posted by Adam

Anne HathawaySEXY screen siren Anne Hathaway says she modeled her Alice in Wonderland character on Blondie singer Debbie Harry.

The actress — who plays the White Queen in the eagerly-awaited new Tim Burton film — says she turned to the 80s singer for inspiration.

“I got really into Debbie Harry and so I was listening to a lot of Blondie and all of that,” Anne revealed.

“It was the idea that someone can look so sweet yet still be very tough and fierce and I think Debbie Harry sums that up pretty much.

“I was looking at the whole Grace Kelly look, but I wanted her to be a bit more punky – so Debbie Harry was perfect.”

Anne, 27, recently insisted her success is down to luck.

“I owe so much of my career to luck,” she said earlier this week. “My mother always told me that luck is preparation meets opportunity and I’ve been given extraordinary opportunities to work with filmmakers long before I was talented enough and deserved to work with them.

“I’ve learned a lot from them. I just keep getting hired. I consider myself lucky and I don’t know who is responsible for it.”

If Debbie Harry is a “Punk” singer, then Madonna is a “Heavy Metal” singer, Lady Gaga is “Grunge”, singer and Britney Spears is “Opera” singer.

Anne Hathaway is too young to know what “Punk” is and it’s not Debbie Harry..

Blondie came out of CBGB’s they were totally punk listen to their 1976 debut”blondie” and 1977 “plastic letters”. 1978 Parallel Lines was when they went mainstream.1979 “ETTB” was kick ass too. They lost me with “autoamerican” and “the hunter” was their worst album i think and their last before “No Exit”. But totally I have a old vhs tape of Blondie playing at CBGBs with The Ramones and all of these other great punk acts. Debbie Harry is one of the if not the coolest woman in music. I mean she’s been making records since 1976.

Hey Jukio Icno and Fzz, maybe you should take rock music history lessons from Anne Hathaway. Debbie Harry was and is always punk and I’m not necessarily talking about the music only, it’s also the attitude and fashion! Let me guess you only know one Blondie song, Heart of Glass?
