Hilary Swank: ‘Betty Anne Waters is a Hero’
HILARY Swank says Betty Anne Waters is one of her heroes.
The actress is set to play the unemployed single mother who earns a law degree to represent her brother in court in a forthcoming biopic, which also stars Sam Rockwell and Minnie Driver.
“I’ve spent a lot of time with Betty Anne, and she is an extraordinary woman and one of my heroes — she is something else, this woman,” she said.
Hilary — who also portrayed aviation pioneer Amelia Earhart in Amelia and teacher Erin Gruwell in Freedom Fighters — claimed playing real people has added pressure.
“Betty Anne Waters is another biopic,” she said. “It’s a true story and she’s living. Just like Erin Gruwell, in Freedom Writers, this person is alive and going to see the film.
“That’s another level of responsibility.”
Swank, 35, has previously revealed how she’s been inspired by her own mom.
