HERE’s the latest trailer for Russell Crowe‘s hotly-awaited new movie Robin Hood.

The flick — directed by acclaimed movie-maker Ridley Scott — also stars Cate Blanchett, William Hurt, Matthew Macfadyen, Mark Strong, Oscar Isaac, Lea Seydoux, Scott Grimes, Kevin Durand, Alan Doyle, Danny Huston and Max von Sydow.

So what’s it about?

Here’s a plot summary:

Russell Crowe stars as the legendary figure known by generations as “Robin Hood,” whose exploits have endured in popular mythology and ignited the imagination of those who share his spirit of adventure and righteousness. In 13th century England, Robin and his band of marauders confront corruption in a local village and lead an uprising against the crown that will forever alter the balance of world power. And whether thief or hero, one man from humble beginnings will become an eternal symbol of freedom for his people.

Crowe recently revealed that making the flick — which hits movie theaters May 14, 2010 — was a “scary” experience.

“It’s scary stuff,” he said earlier this month. “We had 15 people carried off the battle field at one point. One guy got his eye poked out with a pike. Another guy broke an arm and a leg falling off a horse. A number of other people had their wills broken because it was violent and anarchic. Totally crazy.

“The scale of it is enormous. We had 130 horses doing a full-speed gallop charge into 600 guys on the ground.

“Every man on a horse did half-a-dozen fight moves before spinning around and coming back. It can all go south very quickly.”
