GABOUREY SIDIBE’S MOM LASHES OUT AT SHOCK JOCK HOWARD STERN OVER WEIGHT JIBES

Gabourey SidibeGABOUREY Sidibe’s mother, Alice Tan Ridley, has fired back at Howard Stern.

On his radio show earlier this month, the shock jock launched a scathing attack on the Oscar-nominee, insisting Sidibe “is enormous” and too fat for Hollywood.

“There’s the most enormous, fat black chick I’ve ever seen,” he said.

“She is enormous. Everyone’s pretending she’s a part of show business and she’s never going to be in another movie.

“She should have gotten the Best Actress award because she’s never going to have another shot. What movie is she gonna be in?”

And Alice is not amused!

In an interview with US TV show Inside Edition, Ridley told Stern to “get a life”.

“We all see that Gaby is a big girl…What’s wrong with that?” she said.

“She’s not like everybody else in the world.”

coward sperm is hating on Gabourey because because she can act and the onley acting he does is acting like an ass!

  2. Crazy Kitten says:

Lol,love your comment Michael but I agree with Gabourney’s ma,Howard Stern, you’re a jerk and an ugly one too! I find they should completely cancel Howard’s show and fire him, he’s a loser anyway! You Go Alice, we are all behind you ^^!

  3. SFV Valley JR says:

Howard speaks the truth, she’s morbidly, digustingly obese. It’s painful to look at her, and I would not pay $12.00 to see her in any box office film, nor did I see her first either. I’d bet my money that she is not cast in future big box office maintream films, the ones’ that pay the big bucks for major good looking celebrity star talent. There’s only the one storyline that cast her, cant’ redo that victim role again, and again. Now what? Thats what Howard’s point is. I simply agree. He made a point.

    • pilotman says:

let me say this,, whats being said about this young lady(gabby)about her career as an actress might be true,,for all you so-called of a sudden self loving black loving people have said worst things about darker complexion people in our communities,,,i hear it everyday in schools and hosipals, all one has to do wait to hear what is said when a future model who want to be a model or a baby who is not light brightn and damn near white for the very peoplle of color,,,,what got these what iam sure of is black people upset was the messenger was white ,, but it was is said long before he mentioned it on air…

    • Roger says:

Its true we should not be encouraging obesity, We are becoming a country that hads to walk on eggshells and be politically correct at every turn. She is so heavy she is probably close to death. At he weight her heart is pumping twice if not three timesthe blood of an average human. To much pressure on the ticker. She needs a serious intervention or she wont be able to take it. She can have a cardiac arrest

  4. Nakale says:

This is so sad. This is the reason why Hollywood has so anorexic actresses. Gabourey Sidibe is beautiful and real. Howard Stern has no right to comment about her weight. He is an ugly man with a bucket mouth.

  5. Bob says:

This girls mother thinks there is nothing wrong with her?
I bet a doctor would beg to differ with that opinion.
This girl will have a very short life ! She needs help !

  6. Molly says:

It appears that oinkers are “in” now. Look how many people watch The Biggest Loser. The people that I know that watch are all fat as well. Michael (posted here) can’t even spell only! Onley, rolfmao! My eight year laughed at that one.

  7. Steve says:

Howard Stern is a ass. But the girl does need to seriously lose some weight. Its not healthy to be as fat as she is and she could be a wonderful role model for all the fat kids out there. This country is drowning in fat people its disgusting cause I see so much potential wasted cause people can’t stop eating doritos and drinking soda.

  8. Nikki says:

I bet the mother’s a fat pig too! Hey maybe Michael is a moron or he would say moeron?

  9. bob39li says:

Her mother should be locked up! Obesity & anorexia lead to sickness & DEATH!! That’s what Howards’ point was. The girl needs help! This article say’s nothing about his actual comments. Don’t be so quick to judge. At least he has a concern about an epidemic in this country, while you phonies try to live in a pretend world where everything is beautiful. THIS IS A HEALTH ISSUE, not about her talent. That was the point of what he was saying.

  10. Adam zitri says:

come on now….all of you who are saying its for health reasons really want to say the truthy–she is grossly overweight and now with the money she is earning maybe she can get liposuction.

  11. bill says:

this girl is enormous. howard is saying what you all think. i hope she dies of a heart attack soon so you guys can see. get off your ass and exercise you disgusting fat american slobs. the world is laughing at you.

  12. gail41shopping says:

Gabourney is a beautiful woman, she just happens to have a problem like the rest of America whether is be drinking to much, lying, smoking, stealing or some other addiction. This women already has other roles so howard you are wrong, if you can be so talented and make this kind of money regardless of your weight so be it, and all the others can just mind there own business and leave her alone. So what is you don’t want to see her movies, she’s still laughting all the way to the bank. I agree with her mom!

  13. Gypsy says:

Yeah… I’ve been a fan of Stern’s for a long time now, so I’m used to his “dissing” of people (including himself). But this time, he was WAAAY out of line; he had no right to make those comments against someone like Sidibe, who did NOT have it coming. Us BBW’s get bullied and harassed enough by the general public as it is. Sadly, there are a lot of hateful, contemptuous people out there. (SFV Valley JR, Molly, Steve, and Nikki are perfect examples.) We don’t need Stern adding more fuel to the fire.

  14. john holmes says:

That chick is Freaking HUGE!!!!!!! Find some flour and hit a wet spot. Stern is right, she’ll never work again, unless operation dumbo drop 2 is in the works. She could be Obama’s poster child for Govment health care. Black and got the sugers.

  15. Sunny says:

HOWARD STERN IS STUPID HE HAS TO MAKE FUN OF SOMEONE TO GET PEOPLE TO LISTEN TO HIM…LAME ASS. HE LOOKS JUST AS SICK. AHAH.GABBY,STAY BEAUTIFUL CONTINUE BEING YOUR LOVELY SELF AND SHOW THE WORLD THAT YOU DONT HAVE TO BE LIGHT SKINNED OR SKINNY TO BE IN THE BUSINESS.

  16. bababooey says:

We all see that Gaby is a big girl…What’s wrong with that?” she said.

Heart desease leading cause of death in america and its completly preventable. Whats wrong with that? This WOMAN is eating herself to death. Whats wrong with that. Whats wrong is this mother doesnt seem to care about her own daughters health. this is no different then a person doing drugs or anything unhealthy. Shes a grown woman, shes not really that Precious character. stop coddling her like she is. The media doesnt talk about the story howard always tells about when he was fat, his parents sat him down and gave him a really deep talk. its called tough love. Her parents should be the first to tell her she needs to get healthy or she will have a short and miserable life.

  17. willieTRibs says:

The US Government going ban salt because of beasts like this. Come on shes very fat she’s not going be a swimsuit model or even play a role of someones that is not fat. Lets call a spade a spade and say shes VERY FAT. Need to lose weight or get slapped with a Fat Tax.

  18. Elba Parrilla says:

It is a ashame How a discusting human like howard stern talked about a Person the way he spoke about precious he really need a life. he needs to really be put down the way he speaks about others and its ashame people pay to hear his nonsense he is ugly she needo ds to sue his ass i would off don’t let him get away with his stupid crap do what you got to do Gabourey good look and i hope you do another movie show him girl the big womans in this world have alot of potiental you go girl GOOS Luck!

    • Eva Napoleoni says:

well well howard strikes again he needs to be Really punished this time With a BIG LAW SUE go get him so maybe he learns how to Respect Other People he is not funny he thinks he can get away with this crap enough is enough he needs to be stopped why they stop the other D.J for calling the basketball girls nappy heads and he says worst things and he gets away with it hell NO he Need To be Slap the same way off with his shows everybody needs to speak up.

  19. Bobby says:

Stern is an asshole. He is a dirty and demeaning man who needs to get a life other than just talking trash about people. He also needs to stop playing on people’s insecurities and look at his own self in the mirror. Gabourey is an amazing actress, and I am more than positive that her career is just beginning.

    • Krystal says:

Judgmental men trying to set a standard for what women should look for in a role model is a bad example to ALL WOMEN. A good example of a role model for women is someone, courageous, strong, and don’t care what people say. Someone living their dreams and being happy while miserable people who are jealous that they can’t accomplish what she has, sit around and hate on her and her accomplishments all day, that is an example of a role model. And you obviously know nothing about affirmative action, why even bring it up but to further show your ignorance on display. But keep hating on her because it’s people like you that makes her popular, famous, and her name in circulation.

  20. Vincent Gillis says:

This woman is the poster girl for affirmative action. Howard Stern is right. There are too many talented women fighting for movie roles. She is a heart attack waiting to happen. She is a bad example to all women.

  21. BRUCE STEPHENS says:

Howard punks ass stern, needs to grow up.Allays has to talk shit about some one.Dont we have enough problems in this world.Your weight does not define who you are.Man grow up and quit talking shit about people you Redneck.

    • Pooch says:

I agree with bruce even thou he did not spell everything right.Grow up redneck, worry about yourself.Racist ass boy.

  22. Bob says:

really…she can laugh to the bank but she will be at home crying at night.
Her life will be shortened by her mothers inability to do her job and raise a healthy girl !
So sad people would think there is nothing wrong her..practically child abuse !

    • Christine says:

I agree with you. She’ll be lonely and abused by men her whole life, not to mention made fun of by others. Her mother should be ashamed, instead of defending her fatness.

      • Alexis says:

why exactly would she lonely and abused by men her whole life that has nothing to do with her weight. As far as being abused a person can only do to you what you allow them to. Her shouldn’t be ashamed for anything her should be proud that raised a young lady that fished school went to college so if the acting doesn’t take off she has the smarts to do something else…people are made fun of everyday for one reason or another

    • Krystal says:

Her dude is Hot as they come, and they were together long before she started acting. What does your Dude look like, actually no one cares. And Christine sounds like your putting out your own life experiences, sounds like your lonely and been abused by men youe whole life. And just like everyone else in the world sounds like you have been made fun of too, let it go honey. Oh and it sounds like you need some motherly support. You Need a Hug don’t you.

  23. ozzie mitchell says:

    March 16, 2010

    Hello everyone:

Bitter-sweet moment here. I am happy and disappointed that young Gaby has received recognition for her role in ‘Precious’ but it is extremely obvious that her parents (African-American mother/African father) totally ignored Gaby’s physical development when she was a child. Barring a medical glandular problem, there is no excuse for this reckless abandonment of her well-being by her parents.

As for the film ‘Precious,’ why is it that the best African-American directors and actors can do is make films that accentuate the worst about African-Americans. There is a plethora of attractive-looking African-American men, women, and children in business, politics academics, the arts and sciences, and sports bringing great pride to the African-American community on a daily basis, but mindless black directors and actors spend a majority of their time introducing the world to all the negative aspects of black American life.

Marital breakdown (divorce/adultery), child abuse, alcoholism, recidivism, child abandonment, and financial scandals exist inside the homes of both white American and Jewish-American.

Nevertheless, white and Jewish directors, producers, and actors create myriads of movies and television shows that show the “positive” aspects of their respective lives, and when they cannot do that, at the very least, they create a fictional fantasy or hero movie and advertise them around the world.

Yes, historical slavery and apartheid significantly damaging the lives and images of African-Americans is solely due to white Americans of the past. However, African-Americans can no longer blame whites for disparaging their images, as it seems that African-American directors and actors are now significantly damaging their own global images by making films like ‘Precious’ that represent the worst of the race, instead of the best.

As for Monique winning a supporting Oscar actress, again, there is no great pride there. Look at the role call of black Oscar winners. Monique (a nasty foul-mouth abusive black mother). Denzel (a criminal reprobate cop that good cops cannot trust/Union Army soldier with an attitude problem; certainly not a team player). Halle Berry (a horny black wife of a black man on death row that sleeps with a racist prison guard where her husband will be executed). Sidney Poitier (a jobless, but sometimes itinerant carpenter).

Not one Oscar has been won by an African-American male or female for portraying a character in a “positive” or “hero” role. Sure, each of these black actors deserved accolades for excellent acting, but Oscar-winning Sandra Bullock will be best remembered around the world as the white American woman befriending and saving a young black man, once again, the hero role. Denzel, a black man, will be remembered around the world as a black cop that was a “dirty” cop-criminal, making real life black cops appear to be untrustworthy and criminals in the making.

If the best that African-American directors, producers, actors and actresses can do is make films and televisions shows about black prisoners in orange jumpsuits, black cop-criminals, gangsters, sexually promiscuous women with foul mouths, and reprobate citizens, then perhaps they should get out of the business altogether, or form a new union with all other actors and actresses and create a new Hollywood that presents the best of black America—and not the worst.
If Hollywood cannot do any better than shoot down positive black movies, but support black movies that show the worst of African-American people, then certainly it is time for all black actors to unite and take care of their own.

Moreover, when it comes to key male and female roles, perhaps a new Hollywood would talent search young African-American women that even “Vanity Fair” will feel proud enough to put on the “front” of their magazine next to beautiful white actresses of the future (and not stuff inside).

Gaby may be a “big woman” now, but had her mother focused on her daughter when she was younger, perhaps she would look more attractive now. A mother chronically making excuses for Gaby’s weight is just as despicable as Stern’s insulting comments.

Yes, let us not kid ourselves. Barring an uncontrollable gland problem, there is something wrong with big “overweight” women (and men), they eat without exercising and taking proper care of themselves. Gaby is not a big-boned young woman, she is obese because as a child her parents paid her little or no attention, and now as a young woman she has failed herself….until she has empowered herself to change for the better.

Can she reduce her weight, yes, I am sure she can…if she believes in herself. But making excuses for her, as if saying “that’s alright baby, big women are okay in American society.”

Yes, big-boned women are okay, but obese women and men are not….and must commit to regular exercise, and not buy into the excuses made by their parents or equally as physically big friends and relatives who are lazy and incessantly eating wrong.
Apparently, like a Frankenstein project gone terribly wrong, Gaby’s mother, being overweight herself, has wrongly (psychologically) enabled her daughter, and turned her into a physical extension of herself. History is fraught with the Mommy Dearest types who destroy the lives of their daughters.

Perhaps it is time for Gaby to get away from her mother (if she is a negative enabler) and seek the friendship of those in Hollywood who know that sooner or later her weight will keep her out of roles that she might otherwise be able to play. And make no mistake about it, Gaby was discovered by luck, and undoubtedly not due to her mother’s efforts. If she were a Brooke Shield’s mother-type, Gaby might have turned out quite differently.

Luckily, by the grace of god, Gaby was “discovered” for the role of “Precious” and with the right training and separation from her parents, she might be able to pull it off. Stern is obnoxious, but that is what he is paid to be. However, he is not Gaby’s parent and had no responsibility for her care as a child.

That was solely her mother’s and father’s job. No excuses, and by right, she (they) should not profit from any “Gaby” future paydays because Gaby she was discovered by luck and not their ingenuity. The vehicle of Howard’s communication lacked professionalism, but the truth was apropos and should have been reflected on her parents, and not Gaby.

I hope that she takes this fortunate opportunity to reduce her weight to a healthier size; develop her acting skills, stay away from enablers, and go for more positive roles (instead of crime or clownish Monique-type movies) that exude the best of African-Americans—and not the worst.

And for god’s sake, please Gaby, and the rest of the black directors, producers, and actors, stop playing the black victim movies, less the world will never think otherwise.

Loud mouth Chris Tucker, clown-type comedic Eddie Murphy movies with blacks farting at the table, prison orange jumpsuit movies, Madea black woman’s revenge movies, Boyz N the Hood movies, corrupt cop movies, Sparkle/Dream Girls movie, retro-1970s big afro movie genres have run their course, ad nauseam. Thank god.

How about making FRESH new memorable black (adventure, drama, cartoon) movies and television shows with sophistication, depth, and serious acting talent shown around the world that blacks can be proud of. Keeping it real, does not mean that all the “dirty” real has to be made public. Print the “better” real that creates black legends, because in the end, people only remember two kinds of movies: the dirty real and the great “good” legendary stories. Therefore, create more future black legendary movies that exude black good. And if you cannot do it in America’s Hollywood, then make your own new Hollywood…the days of slavery are over…and now you have the power….

    Good luck

    ——-

    • michel says:

Wow, Although i may not agree with the crassness of Howard Stern, he did have a valid point, in Hollywood physical appearance has a lot to do the with the success of actors and actresses. What I cannot fathom is why slavery and apartheid would be mentioned in a of rebuttal to his comments. Those two issues have as much as importance as the killings in Haiti, Somalia and the Sudan, all committed by blacks against blacks. The heart of this issue is that in the Hollywood/movie culture this actress has made one big score(and a very deserving nomination) but her ability to find major roles hereafter is greatly compromised by her appearance. Let us not debate politics and stick with the core of the issue, Appearance will have more impact on her Hollywood future than her talent. The bottom line is not the color of her skin but instead her girth. Does anyone doubt that Beyonce will find more acting roles the Gaby ?

    • Eve says:

      Ozzie,

I agree with all that was said and it was well stated, I have been enlightning people along the way about what the music and movie industry is doing to the the black race. For an actress like Halle Berry accepting an award for the NON-acting that she did and be overwhelmed about it, only saids how insecure she is at the art of acting. If she only realized that REAL power sometimes comes with NON-accepting. Cicely Tyson, a REAL actress, had enough dignity in her ability as an actress that she NEVER accepted any such degrading roles.

As far as Monique, (a NON-actress), I too saw the movie and I saw only Monique being Monique – no acting applied or required. The only reason the Academy awarded such “behavior” is to let the black race understand that this is how the black race will ONLY and ALWAYS be perceived in the industry. However, I do disagree with one thing you mentioned about Gabourney. She was not discovered by luck. Infact, she was not discovered at all. She AUDITIONED because the role of “Precious” required that one be large and black! SELF-ESTEEM is the real issue here not weight. The role did not call for anything else (Beyonce-type) although it puzzles me how Beyonce is mentioned in several comments as an “Actress”? I find it difficult to say that Beyonce even ACT like an Actress. Angela Bassett is a REAL actress and is the closest thing if not the Cicely Tyson of current time.

Have you noticed that Precious was based on the “COMBO” lives of Oprah, Tyler and Monique – ABUSE, ABUSE, ABUSE! Imagine that.

Before we have to continusouly have “Madea” (same concept, different actors) type films, the three should round table with the most expensive, prestigious, qualified psychatrist of modern day and talk, compare and heal themselves! But, leave the “adjusted” alone!

  24. bababooey says:

all these people crying for her CANT wait to blast stern themselves. lol. hypocrites

  25. SLJ says:

Ok, so she *is* quite large but that does not give Howard the right to talk about her so cruelly. I do agree that she will have a hard time getting major roles because she’s so big, but he could’ve made his point without using such hurtful language. It’s all in the delivery, people!

  26. bababooey says:

what about all the media outlets repeating it. arent they to blame as well? they love that stern said it first, all they have to do is repeat it.

  27. Christine says:

I’m a heavy woman, myself, but I still think she is grossly overweight and difficult to look at. Howard is just saying what everyone else is thinking. All that talk about Oscar night fashion saying how ‘beautiful’ she is and how she dressed right for women her size…well there shouldn’t be any women her size…and she is NOT beautiful!! It’s ridiculous what she’s done to her body, and at such a young age! Lose that weight while it’s still possible! I’m embarrassed every day about the weight I’ve gained…I dont run around making excuses and defending it.

  28. just me says:

she is beautiful!and she can loose weight whenever she wants, too bad I can’t say the same thing about Howard Stern ugliness and stupidity. This guy should really use a mirror,he’s such a joke!!!He’s just jealous because Gaby got a Oscar nomination for her first role and even if she’s not the most attractive woman on earth she is loved by a many people,Coward in stead is loved by nobody and the only way he got famous is because he talk bad about talented people.(sorry for my bad English)

  29. Rhonda M says:

I do not think Stearn’s comments were meant as constructive criticism, but the woman should lose weight for her own good, and for her family’s. She’s too fat.

  30. Bob says:

    Good lord..blame white people again

I’ll answer all the anti-white comments when you can tell me how many whites won
    -any miss black america contests
    -featured on ebony magazine
    -any naacp wawrds
    - got money from the united negro college fund..

but you want to complain about the lack of black oscar winners…save it for the “black only” awards

  31. bababooey says:

her mother should be put in jail. something tells me she was obese before she could walk.

    • SLJ says:

      Actually, he did mention race:

“There’s the most enormous, fat black chick I’ve ever seen,” he said.

The article’s probably only about 130, 140 words and you forgot that part already? Wow. It seems you are what’s wrong with this country…

That being said, what he said was true but the *way* he said it was inappropriate and disrespectful. Imagine having a kid who was having trouble in school and the teacher said:

“Jimmy’s having a very difficult time grasping things in class.”
      -or-
“Your son’s about as dumb as a box of rocks, you should put him in special ed with the other stupid kids.”

While both true, your reaction to each statement would be drastically different because one is tactful and respectful while the other is incredibly rude and disrespectful. The bottom line is that this woman did not deserve such disrespect. If she was some tarty harlot then I’d understand but she’s not.

  32. bob39li says:

I love how the Stern haters have comments far worse than anything he actually said. Who is the horrible person here? (look in a mirror) You’ve managed to turn this into a race issue? One idiot compares nappy headed hoes’ to Sterns’ comment on obesity? When he never mentioned race. And to sue him? You people are exactly what is wrong with this country.

    • SLJ says:

      Actually, he did mention race:

“There’s the most enormous, fat black chick I’ve ever seen,” he said.

The article’s probably only about 130, 140 words and you forgot that part already? Wow. It seems you are what’s wrong with this country…

      • Feisty says:

He was just being descriptive. Have you ever referred to someone as black, Asian, German, tall, skinny, or fat? Seriously?

      • SLJ says:

First of all, that’s not the point I was making. The original poster said Howard didn’t mention race and I was pointing out that he did.

Second, I can understand why some people feel iffy about that sentence. Saying, “He’s Asian with short hair, blue jeans and a Red Sox jersey,” is a lot different than, “He’s the fattest Asian I’ve ever seen.” There’s a connotation in the second that’s not in the first.
Besides, if her race played no part in his judgment then why bring it up in the first place? People don’t generally include unimportant descriptors because doing so just sounds weird, for example, “There’s the most enormous, fat Sagittarius chick I’ve ever seen.” That sentence sounds ridiculous unless, of course, her astrological sign is, in some way, relevant. Do you understand?

      • Feisty says:

I do see your point. If he hadn’t said something derogatory before stating she was black, it would be different. But…that’s Howard. He doesn’t pull any punches about others or himself.

But thanks for making me look at it differently. I will continue to listen to Stern everyday because I take it for what it is, a comedy show. I don’t always agree, but I always laugh.

        Be well.

      • SLJ says:

        :)

I suppose you’re right; at the end of the day, he’s just a talented (albeit, ignorant) comedian so people shouldn’t take stock in what he says.

You know, I bet if he had said the same thing about a more polarizing figure, say, Rosie O’Donnell, people would be agreeing like crazy!

      • Feisty says:

It’s funny you mention Rosie O’Donnell. Howard spent a few years relentlessly ragging on her, it was bad. Now, they are great friends, she has a show on Sirius/XM that he endorses, and she’s often a guest on his show. The cool thing about Howard is that he will admit when he made a mistake about someone.

  34. Paul says:

Yeah, I can see she’s a big girl; unfortunately, she’s all I can see because she’s so damn big.

  35. Keychain says:

This why we have a young dead actress now, she looked fine and one day I look up and she was blond and looking like a bag of bones. I agree she’s overweight but it her body and if she likes it who are we to tell her to lose weight, it just plain fu^ckin’ rude. I don’t know how this became a race thing either, there is fat people in every race. Howard talks about everyone and she going to get comments b/c she is big.

  36. Chickie says:

    ozzie mitchell says:

What an eloquent response..plz ctct me at queenandkings@gmail.com i created that addy just for you since it is public and there are a lot of silly immature clowns on the net..you are absolutely right. I am doing a film.

For the rest of “youse” Beyonce would have probably been at least a 1/2 of this weight if she didn’t go on overdrive to lose it..but you are right..Black women believe the hype that being big is beautiful ..fuggedabout it!

  37. mel says:

OK, but how many people in hollywood r actually “healthy”?? So she should start doing lines of coke and eat cancer sticks for bk/lunch/and dinner, then u guys will b happy?

  38. lesley says:

I have read every comment before mines and must say that everybody is surely entitled to his/her say so. It is an assumption that she is not healthy, however we dont know this for sure. We cant assume that all overweight people are not healthy. Just a lot of other health problems, BIG just might run in her family. We dont know if she is taking and type of measures to correct her weight problem. This young lady has feelings and I am sure that she was hurt by this clowns remarks and the remark of his FAT BLACK CO-HOST. I am sure that most of the comments that were negative were from white people who seem to think that fat and black is whack. If she was skinny and black they would have found something else to say about her. Thats the sad part of the thing. The media is one sided how gives a damn bout Mr. Woods affairs that a moral issuse. At least this movie gave insight to something that happens everyday black, white, hispanic,or any race. I do however agree with one thing and that is winning awards that are out of character is a problem.

  39. May says:

I am a big girl. I do not have any heart probs, or anything else. i am active and so on. People need to back off. worry about your own lives and stop fucking with others. gesh!

  40. laucutus says:

i don’t think howard’s jealous of anybody. he’s talking his way to the bank being on an uncensored forum, and sirius paid him $500 million to do so. he’s doing what he does best, being provocative and speaking the truth. sure it’s cruel but that’s honesty. we all think what he says, but we just don’t voice it. overweight does mean unhealthy. no one’s telling her to be stick thin, but come on people. that’s why americans are the fattest people around. i agree, she was probably fat since she was a kid, and that has alot to do with how she was raised, and we shouldn’t fault her for that, but now she is in the position to do something about it. hey, howard never claimed to be some perfect specimen, and there’s nothing he can do about being ugly, he already said that. so putting him down isn’t going to change the fact that she is still overweight!

  41. kim says:

I agree that Gabourey needs to lose weight for health reasons, but some of you are just as bad as Howard Stern. First of all, we don’t know if she’s tried and failed to lose weight or if she is currently trying to lose weight. Second, she still looks better than Howard Stern, even with the extra weight.

I’m not fat and I exercise, but I think it sucks that it’s still okay to make fun of people with weight problems. Besides, she doesn’t seem to labor when she breathes and she doesn’t seem to have trouble walking. In conclusion, we don’t know her medical history or her past attempts to lose weight. Weight loss methods are sometimes worse than being overweight. Remember, too, she was a college student before acting. Acting is not her only option in life.

  42. Lovely One says:

I agree that she is unhealthily obese, and is too young to be so large, but she has a great personality and exudes confidence in spite of her size. Meanwhile beautiful and thin actresses like Halle Berry and Rihanna are riddled with self-esteem problems and let men treat them like sh!t. Beauty (especially fake Hollywood version) can be bought on the outside but still can’t change the way some people feel on the outside, or give them talent they will never have. Kudos to Gabby for knowing who and what she is, and has to offer the world in spite of her appearance, but I hope she loses enough weight to stay in good health and for no other reason….

Also, it is true that most Black Men love thick or large women, epecially the WHITE ones… Has anyone hear the white comedienne Lisa Lampanelli joke about how the Black Men love her, and THAT’S ALL SHE CAN GET – lol!!!

  43. BMac says:

Typical over-reaction, as usual. First of all, I listen to Stern almost daily and comments such as what he said about Sibide are common on his show. He makes fun of everyone, himself included. Granted, the tone of his remarks are hurtful if your Sibede, her family, friends, or even a fan. That’s his show, take it, or leave it. Since I listen daily there is from time-to-time an instance where he says something that I don’t particularly like about someone I know and like. I take it for what it is, comments made on a COMEDY show. I can always turn off the channel. Ironically, the basis of his comments concerning Sibide I found to be accurate. She is overweight which will limit her roles that she can choose. She is overweight to the point that it will seriously affect her health. She seems like a real nice person so hopefully she takes the worst of this and turns it into a positive by improving her health by dropping a few lbs.

  44. juleslm says:

the girl is not healthy. if she doesn’t lose about 120lbs, she will die an early death. it’s about health, not looks.

  45. esme says:

I really don’t understand when people say that’s how real women look. It’s just not right to be that way. Why lash out on one extreme and not on the other?

I’m not saying that Howard Stern merits no blame. He certainly does for his insensitivity, but in a sense, his commentary is an example and a criticism of the preservation of homogeneity in Hollywood. It’s all so formulaic.

  46. Denise says:

dixy reckt you need help and plenty of prayers because your hatred towards black will lead you straight to HELL. If you do not believe it try picking up the Bible and reading it. GO STRAIGHT TO THE BOOK OF REVELATIONS. Better yet, read the book of Corinthians. God is agains hatred and equates it to murder. I suggest you get with the program before it is too late. This world will end one day. Where will YOU spend eternity??????

By the way, Howard started the “racist” issue when he stated that she is the biggest “BLACK” chick he ever saw. He could have simply said the biggest chick. He made it a point to stress “BLACK”.

    • Feisty says:

Of course, we HAVE to drag religion into this, lol. Now, if I refer to you as religious, is that insulting?

Sidibe is black isn’t she? I have heard him call white women names as well. He’s an equal opportunity insulter. Lighten up people.

  47. KEN says:

    Howard,
    YOUR WIG IS TOO TIGHT

  48. Cathy O. says:

HOWARD STERN IS 100% CORRECT. This unfortunate young lady is MORBIDLY OBESE. Her mother is a poor parent, and is herself obese.

  49. Feisty says:

I am a long time Stern Fan and listen to his show daily…unless you heard his comments in context and entirety then please, refrain from bashing him. He makes comments about himself that are crueler than anything he said about Sibide. And by the way, saying he’s racist is ignorant, he Jewish and his co-host is a black woman. Do you really think Robin would put up with him for close to 30 years if he was a bigot.

The point is, he speaks the truth, but he doesn’t sugar coat it. I think she’s a beautiful person, as is anyone with that much positive energy, but she is grossly overweight. It will end up causing her serious health problems if it hasn’t already. I read an article/interview with her that quoted her as saying, “I want to lose weight and I’ve started going to the gym.” Maybe she’s not as happy with herself as she seems?

  50. Blakely says:

Although Gabourey Sidibe has obviously been schooled in her self-awareness etiquette; I KNOW that she KNOWS; she would feel, move, and be a lot more comfortable with some weight loss.

She HAS to KNOW that she is overweight. But that does not hinder her courage, enthusiasm and moxey; to go after her God-given full potential that He created her to fulfill!

    Be Blessed Ms Gabourey Sidibe!

  51. Elwin says:

She is grossly overweight. She has no acting future unless they remake Star Wars and she can be a planet.

One of her biggest supporters is Mo’nique. Mo’nique used to go on a tirade about how evil skinny women are. Mo’nique is now diabetic (shocker, no?) and watches what she eats. I wonder if it will take diabetes (assuming she doesn’t have it), heart failure, hypertension and/or stroke before all of her “defenders” start showing some real love and concern and tell Gabby to stop being flabby.

  52. pabelgu says:

If Howard Stern can make a career out of being an rude ass, there is no reason an overweight actor cannot have a career. She can lose weight, but no amount of plastic surgery is gonna make his ugly ass look good!

  53. Gayle says:

And Robin Quivers is a disgrace to all black women everywhere.

  54. if God created every one one size there will be no world and the Lord taking care of her .He love you whether you obesity, ugly, are whatever .Lone as if she have God in her life thing will be alright and whenfor you to go it that time That is why the world is so beautiful today. Soquit hating on people size, color, and just them the way they are so iknow alot people not going to agree with me but its the true May you be BLESS.

  55. DiamondDiva1103 says:

umm, hellooo ppl, Her size is what got her the role and made her a star in the 1st place.lol. Can u see where she might be a lil confused. Maybe she will loose weight or have surgery or something now, but thats her business. Jack Black has been porky forever and gets roles, Monique has her own show…lol, nobdy has the balls to say anything abt her.lol. America Ferrera the lise goes on. There are roles for big ppl that arent victim roles.

  56. Trishe says:

Stern is an idiot. He is attacking this girl for no reason. There was no cause for him to be so mean. I am sure that Gabby knows that she does need to lose weight for her health, but attacking her and trying to make her feel bad about herself is not the way to encourage her. I think Stern needs to mind his business and worry about what the hell he looks like. I think it’s great that she is okay with they way she looks. I am sure when she is ready she will do what is best for her.

  57. Dumpster_Muffin says:

I think it’s HILARIOUS that you pathetic posters are on here defending this chick. She IS NOT beautiful. Maybe on the inside, but on the outside she is ONE HOT MESS. This chick is about to die. Do you have any idea how hard her heart is working to pump blood throughout her veins? C’mon people. Don’t encourage this by telling yourselves how beautiful she is. If you do that, she will be the next to go. Howard made some comments that might be harsh, but he was pretty much spot on. The jobs won’t keep on coming for her. She will have to work specific roles (if she can get them) and her health will always be a concern. EAT A FU(ing APPLE!!!!!

  58. Dumpster_Muffin says:

Hypocrites! The fact that you are acting like YOU have never called anyone else FAT or some other vulgar names is comical at best! If it makes you feel; better to defend some stupid fat celebrity that you will never meet on some gossip website, then feel free. It’s pretty funny that you’re attacking Howard Stern for doing the same exact thing all of you do everyday. Whether it’s in school, social gatherings or at work, you are all little shit talkers yourselves. Get over it.

  59. Bob says:

the only reason she is known is because people saw her size and it made people feel sorry for her..her role was to get people to pity her..and it worked.

Not one person can honestly say the first thoughts when they saw this black woman..my god..she is obese..
you can type all the P.C. things about her..but thats what you thought..shes too bid and obese !

    • SLJ says:

Yeah, the first thing I thought when I saw her was, “Damn, her face is so fat it’s distracting,” but I wouldn’t turn around and disrespect her because of it. Regardless of her body size, she deserves to be treated with dignity and respect.

As I said earlier, I think the problem is that he picked on a nice girl. If he had said the same thing about Rosie O’Donnell or Michael Moore, everyone would be agreeing. He just picked a bad target this time.

  60. Crystal Chanell says:

I wont say that she doesn’t need to lose weight, but I will say don’t act like there’s never been an overweight person who has not “made it”. Because of the role she played in this movie I believe that she WILL be put into other movies. Being “fat” has nothing to do with talent. She’s a GREAT actress and she deserves respect as a human being. I cannot stand people who feel the need to put others down because of imperfection. People talk about this girl as if she’s an animal or something. If you don’t want to see her movies, fine. But there’s plenty of people who will.

  61. hueami says:

Tyler Perry and Oprah will have her “star” in their next black oppression project. Tyler will have a white or near white man fall in love with her, carry her off on 2 white stallions, have 2 light kids, sing a hymn and live happily ever after. Tyler will exploit her to the hilt and Oprah will stroke her ego. Tyler Perry is chomping at the bit to get this woman to do his movies or plays before she realizes she really does need to lose weight. She’s a cash cow. (literally)
