Kate Winslet and Sam Mendes ‘Came to Blows Over Careers’

KATE Winslet‘s split from her director husband Sam Mendes comes as no surprise to those close to the British actress.
A source told Us Weekly magazine that the couple — who have been married seven years — went down the road of no return when they started arguing about their careers.
The relationship first showed signs of trouble while the two — who announced they were splitting on March 15 — were filming Revolutionary Road in 2007.
“Sam told friends Kate would talk about the film the moment they woke up, and it was overbearing,” said one insider.
“They went stir-crazy and argued more than ever.
“Kate told Sam, ‘Your career is not more important than mine.”
Meanwhile, People magazine claims Mendes’ tendency to be a workaholic is one of the reasons the couple split.
“They seemed like they had a solid marriage and relationship,” a source told the publication. “They put as much effort into having a real life as they did on their careers.”
Winslet, 34, and Sam, 44 — who have a 6-year-old son, Joe — separated in January, but decided to keep it quiet until after the Oscars.
The couple are no longer living together, but the source says that Mendes is still living in the same Manhattan, New York, apartment building.
