Dakota Fanning: ‘My Fans Don’t Want me to Grow up’

Dakota FanningDAKOTA Fanning thinks her fans are stopping her from growing up.

The actress, 16, says the reaction to her first girl-on-girl kissing scene with Kristen Stewart in The Runaways proves that people are awkward with her getting steamy onscreen.

“Because people have seen me grow up since I was 6, I think people feel like they own a part of me in a way,” says Dakota on the fuss over her lesbian moment. “That’s completely understandable because now I’m 16. It’s been 10 years from when I was a little girl. I’m not grown up yet, but I’m a lot older.

“I think sometimes people don’t want to see you in certain positions. They have to understand that I’m an actress and I’m going to do all different things and it’s not me, personally. It’s just a movie and it’s just acting.”

Fanning recently revealed how she bonded with Stewart during filming.

“She’s become one of my best friends,” she said last week. “We’re really close.

“I think it’s really great working with your friends, and to be completely open with someone and to have no defense mechanism, you know what I mean? Just completely open with that person. I love that — especially for this film.”

the fans don’t care that you are doing older roles and are growing up.Its was just a shock for people to see you do the drug scenes in The Runaways.Everyone pictures you as that cute little girl from “I am Sam” or from “Uptown Girls”the movie she did with the late Britney Murphy.
