Robin Williams Sorry to Aussies

Posted by Adam

Robin WilliamsROBIN Williams has been forced to issue a grovelling apology to Australians everywhere for calling them “English rednecks.”

The former Mork and Mindy star was attacked by Aussie Prime Minster Kevin Rudd for making the remark in a TV interview.

Now Robin has hit back at the PM but made his peace with his fans down under.

“I landed in LA and was told I had offended the Prime Minister of Australia,” explains the Oscar winning star.

“My initial response was, ‘If I have offended him then so be it but if I have offended Australia, no!’ Every time I have been there I have had a great time. I love Australia. I really meant no offense.”

What nonsense, as an Australian I’d like to say Robin has in no way offended myself or my friends or any other Australian I know of. Robin is a brilliant comedian doing what he does best and everyone I know got quite a chuckle out of the remarks stated in the interview. Our Prime Minister is a goose and an embarrassment to our good Nation and will find himself promptly voted out at the next election. Our toleration for this imbecile has been exhausted.

Robbie Williams was right. The English invaders have destroyed a beautiful land and worse continue to dig it up and send it off to prop up the Chinese tyranny.

Australia is a beautiful country with vast amazing landscapes and beaches that so many Australians such as myself work hard to conserve.

As an Australian, Robin Williams has nothing to apologise for! To my fellow Australians, re our Prime Minister, this Queensland hick is really becoming an embarrassment for our country.

“Forced to issue a grovelling apology”?? WTF?

William’s apology routine was part of his interview with two Aussie comedians Hamish and Andy made shortly after our PM went pear shaped on the matter. You can find the whole thing if you look around at http://www.safm.com.au/shows/hamishandandy/

It’s hilarious. Nothing was being forced. The whole thing was three comedians making a lot of fun of Kevin Rudd’s mishandling of the whole thing. It will all blow over.

You can safely ignore sweeping political generalizations, by the way. (Allan, mate, we Aussies aren’t particularly unified on our views on politicians. We may have a tendency to think they are all wankers, but that’s bipartisan. The latest polls show that the position of Rudd and the ALP has been improving, and is now at the highest point since his election.)

The Williams fiasco will earn Rudd a lot more criticism than support from Aussies, but I doubt it will have any material impact on elections. We didn’t elect him for his sense of humour. But, come to think of it, one of his claims to fame was foreign relations and diplomacy. Whoopsie! LOL.

Robin William’s comments are offensive especially coming from an Americian. As for the previous replies if Rudd is voted out at the next election(highly unlikely) then Robin William’s comments can be viewed differently as we would be governed by a Redneck.

Chairman KRudd is a dick. Nobody here bothers listening to his drivel.

Robin Williams is a comedian who went to rehab and he gets paid to crack cheap jokes (not by me). Kevin Rudd is a cheap joke (not voted as PM by me). Let’s call it even.

I think I can claim to speak for most Americans when I say the following:

    A. Robin Williams is hilarious, no matter who you are or where your from

    B. We love you Aussies. We truly do. You’d hear 9 out of 10 Americans talk smack about ANY other nation in the world, but you’d be hard pressed to find 1 American in a hundred who will say anything bad about Aussies, or Australia.

    C. The comment Williams made should be taken as a humorous compliment.
all he’s really saying is that Aussies are more folksy and easy going than the often stuck up, droll Brits. And from my personal experience, I find that
statement accurate, for the most part, in good natured humor.

Not being an Australian, and reading up on Rudd’s politics, I would think he’s ok for a politician, but he clearly lacks a sense of humor.
That, from my observation, is not something typical for Aussies.
