Cate Blanchett — So Misunderstood!

CATE Blanchett says she’s “so misunderstood”.
The Aussie actress — who can currently be seen starring alongside Russell Crowe in new movie Robin Hood — insists she doesn’t care what people think of her, but admits the public fails to see how “deep and complex and varied” she is.
“I’m not focused on what other people think of me,” Blanchett said in an interview with W Magazine.
“Some people get you and some people don’t, and to spend your life trying to make people understand how deep and complex and varied you are — I think that way lies madness.”
Blanchett recently admitted she worries she has exposed too much of her personal life, meaning audiences have trouble distinguishing between her and her characters and would rather be known just for her work.
“Personally, I’d love to turn into a chameleon,” she said. “I love watching performances that aren’t hampered by all that personal baggage from real life. That’s why I wonder if I’ve exposed too much of Cate Blanchett instead of the women I’ve played.
“It’s nice to talk about being a mother, my wonderful husband and blah, blah, blah. But at the end of the day I’d rather people focus on my work. I couldn’t be what I call one of those ‘personality performers’ who expect you to see them and not a character on the screen.”
