BRET Michaels sees himself as the next Simon Cowell!

The Poison rocker says he’d love to replace Cowell as a judge on American Idol after the music mogul completed his last episode earlier this week.

“That’s what I’m saying!” said Bret, who appeared on Wednesday’s season finale.

“Let’s just say that I was to slip into Simon’s chair. I’m sorry he has to go but sometimes things happen.

“Provided my health holds up, I think I’m taking that chair next year. I think I could do an amazing job… I have lived and breathed music my entire life and I could give real constructive criticism.”

Simon thinks Bret would be the perfect person to step into his shoes on the judging panel.

“Actually, he’d be good,” said the 50-year-old millionaire. “He’s funny. He’s got experience. He’d be a good choice – and you saw the audience reaction to him. They love him.”

Bret — who suffered a brain hemorrhage in April and stroke just last week — will be having heart surgery this fall to repair the hole in his heart.

I would love to see Bret as a judge. I’m not sure if he is the best replacement for Simon because at least one judge needs to be of the ilk of Simon or Piers Morgan. I like Kara and Ellen but really I think Bret would be a great choice for replacing either one of them.

I love Bret but I probably wouldn’t watch because it’s supposed to be based on talent. I made a vow not to ever watch it again after Chrystal lost to that guy that couldn’t carry a tune. I’m very annoyed with the way that show is rigged and it’s not the first time that it’s happened. Bret should invent his own show and call it “So you think you can sing” or something like that. I think Idol is grasping at ways to stay on the air because their show has just about ran it’s couse.

He has been there (trying to get a start in the music biz) and I think he would be very diplomatic and have very good advice. Agree that he would bring a great needed breath of freshness to AI. I would love it if someone one would run up to him, snatch that moldy hat off of his dome, pull that wig off and snap some pics of the REAL Bret. I want to see him as he really is. Oh by the by, I want that person to also have a baby wipe in their other hand, and after removal of the wig and hat, wipe his face and get all that makeup off of it, and then we can see the middle aged, balding elderly tranny that will be left standing there. Brett’s a pretty good guy too, so actually just ask him for the pics. I can’t think of a better replacement for Simon Cowell then Bret Michaels. I have always loved his music, however admit that I found his “Man-Whorish” ways to be a bit much at times. After watching him on this season’s Celebrity Apprentice, I gained a much greater respect for him. Bret seems to be a very down-to-earth person, with an overabundance of talent in so many varied areas. He is one artist who understands the music industry – inside and out. I think that Bret Michaels will be able to offer great advice and constructive criticism to all the hopeful Idolists’.
I have some advice for those of you “HATERS” out there….change is inevitable-either deal with it or change the channel. I feel that Ellen added to the show…face the facts; Paula left. Now we are here faced with Simon’s departure….granted some people really despised him, however I had a great respect for him. I think Bret Michaels will certainly be able to add an entirely new perspective to the show and hope this becomes a reality. (He does, however need to take care of himself and allow his body the opportunity to heal completely)
Last, but most certainly not the least, face the other fact of life….Crystal LOST. Again either deal with it and accept the fact that Lee is truly a talented artist with an awesome career ahead of him – and if any of you are so obsessed about Crystal losing, understand that it really doesn’t matter one way or the other….she will make her album, as well…and will most likely be a success – only time will tell – just please stop the hatred. It takes a lot of courage to do what any of those people on Idol have done and everyone is entitled to having their favorite….HOWEVER, because of the diversity of talent, it is absolutely impossible for everyone to be completely satisfied with who will win the title. Lee epitomized the true meaning of behind American Idol – just watch his earlier performances and the way he developed as an artist throughout the competition. He seemed to take everything the advice of the judges and mentors and genuinely put his whole into the competition. Plus it certainly doesn’t hurt that he’s SO much nicer to look at than Crystal!

Because I look at the two artists like a wise purveyor of music does. One has incredible talent, great emoting and presence when performing, and an amazing air of professionalism. The other one is Lee. This is a larger travesty than Adam Lambert losing last year….but it just proves that Idol voters are all women who think Lee is cute. Bret seem a great choice but from what I’m hearing and reading coming from all over lots of people say AI won’t be the same without Simon. First they can kick Ellen to the curb because I still don’t get WHY they had her on as a judge. I loved Ellen but she isn’t cutting it at all. I think that making Bret a judge on American Idol would be the best thing the producers could ever do! He is an amazing singer himself, he knows what to look and listen for. He is down to earth, and knows what america likes. I think that if the producers choose not to make him a judge, that could possibly be the biggest mistake they could ever make. Actually, this is a great idea. The show would lose the villain judge appeal that Simon so gracefully did-although no matter who you are, you know he’s right…
But Bret, is in a place in his life in all of our lives for those of us who are TV fans-everyone loves Bret. Bret would be great as Simons replacement. He knows the music business in and out. He’s written and preformed hit songs in front of 1000’s of people. None of the current judges know what its like to be a top recording artist. Sure Kara writes hit songs for other singers and Randy was a guitarist in Journey but none of them were as famous as Bret was in his day. He’s also extremely creative and I feel will be honest when critiquing the contestants without being overtly obnoxious.

lose the hat, the bandana, the hairpiece, and just maybe it might take….but I don’t think so. They’re going to need someone with a powerful presence to take Simon’s place. That show’s already going down the tubes anyway with the remaining panel.It hasn’t been the same since Paula left and we got stuck with her illustrious replacement.
