Robert Pattinson: ‘Eclipse is Like a Horror Film’

Posted by Adam

Robert PattinsonROBERT Pattinson says fans will be scared out of their wits when they watch new Twilight movie Eclipse — because it’s a horror film!

The hunky British actor — who plays vampire Edward Cullen — says the upcoming third flick in the franchise is different to its predecessors, Twilight and New Moon.

“I’ve seen a very early cut,” he said. “It’s good. It’s different. It’s really different, like, it’s kind of serious.

“All the kinds of fight scenes that are in New Moon… they’re real fights now in Eclipse. They’re not, like, fantasy things. It’s like a horror film!”

Pattinson, 24, recently admitted his onstage smooch with costar Kristen Stewart the MTV Movie Awards this past Sunday “didn’t work”.

“I had the best ideas last night and I was like, ‘Listen everybody, leave it to me, I’ve got it all under control’,” he said.

“I gave all these ideas and nobody thought they were funny and we ended up doing something which didn’t work!”

I hope that Eclipse is better than New Moon.I sorry to say but New Moon was two thumps down.I can’t wait to see how Bryce Dallas Howard does as Victoria in Eclipse. Its twenty-two days till Eclipse is in theaters.

    • JustMe

New Moon was visually beautiful. The story is hard to tell and I think Weitz did a good job. Taylor was great and so was Rob. Kristen changed during New Moon. She was so radiant and happy at the start (the scenes with Taylor at the movie theater promo clips) and later on she is so broken looking and sad-eyed.
She told Entertainment Weekly magazine “I had to do the f’ing break up scene and it was killing me and I went in the f’ing car and was full out sobbing”. Why would she be sobbing and so upset before the filming of scene when in the movie she looks wooden and emotionless? Why was she not at Rob’s birthday party in Italy? Why was she so shattered looking at Comic Con and Teen Choice and Eclipse filming? She later said she was worried about what the fans would think of the break up. Yeah right. Something happened (or should I say did not happen) during New Moon. That is why Kristen said Weitz was so sympathetic and understanding.

Hi, Romantic Fool (aka TruthTeller, SayWhat, JustMe, Lori, et al.)–-

You need to get new monikers. Try to avoid running two words together; it’s as dead a giveaway as the nutty preoccupation with Saint Rob being dragged down by evil lesbian bitch Kristen.

Also, this board is getting to be as big an echo chamber as your multiple-personality head must be; on other threads, you are replying to your own posts, under different names. Why? So your bile doesn’t appear–you know–a little EXCESSIVE?

        Too late for that, bub!

Again, you are a Catholic, per your screeds. Go see a priest. This obsessive preoccupation with Rob Pattinson is not a good thing. It a bad thing, when it makes you attack another human being (Kristen Stewart) with such sick regularity. Do you actually do anything else in your life?

I said a few days ago that you remind me of the guy who killed John Lennon. He LOVED John, until somehow, in his delusional brain, John disappointed him, and thus became “the enemy.” So he went to New York, hung outside John’s apartment building, got an authograph, and then–a few days later–shot John dead.

Right now, Kristen is the object of your negative feelings. You feel that your pure, Catholic boy must be protected from such an awful, “mannish” girl.

But what happens when you realize your “precious” (yeah, you remind me of Gollum, too) is really a grown man with grownup faults and desires? I fear for you, and for others around you, when that happens.

SEE A PRIEST. TALK TO HIM. GET HELP!

  • Carla

I hope they don’t stray too far from the book. I was disappointed with the trailer on the MTV awards where Bella leaves with Jacob. That blew the whole scene from the book. Edward was supposed to be over protective and Bella was supposed to be pissed off at Jacob not to mentioned Edwards not allowing her to see him at LaPush in fear that he would have to break the treaty to come get her. This really bothered me and the script writer better not have ruined this film…the best book of the series. It’s a no wonder why Stephanie Meyers decided to produce the next film. Maybe she will have more say in. With all that said, the rest of the film looks good but Edward has a huge protective role in this and Bella is supposed to be the fragile girl who is freaked out by the idea that Victoria is back. The book is all about the love triangle and not about the war. There is only one part that there is any real fighting going on so I hope they didn’t do it just to bring in more male viewers. Like in New Moon….Edward never fought Felix, he with the help of Alice talked there way out of Bella’s death sentence. Giving the Vultori more of a role in Eclipse sucks too because that means there time will push out some other important scene that was in the book and won’t be in the movie. I bought tickes to the AMC Theatre showing on the 29th where they will play Twilight, New Moon and then at Midnight they will play Eclipse. I just hope after 6 or 7 hours I am not disappointed. Of course watching Rob is never a problem. I was so happy for Rob at the MTV awards– Kristen needs to get over not kissing him for the best kiss award. It’s getting old already. Wether they are together or not she should have just kissed him proper. He had to grab her from behind.

  • Carla

Has anyone heard or read the new Stephanie Meyer book The Short Life of Brea Tanner? Not sure on the title but I was pissed off at her for writing that book before finishing Midnight Sun. Now I think it’s just plain vendictive. Though she claims that she is no longer angry..but she doesn’t realize how it punishes her readers not to finsh the book. It’s like dangling the carrot.

    • Ashley

No I’m not reading that crap! And I completely agree she needs to finish Midnight Sun. I’d buy the whole series again if she would write it from Edward’s POV. He’s much more interesting than Bella IMO.

    • JustMe

I think it is The Short Second Life of Brea Tanner. She did not finish Midnight Sun as it was leaked. It is also pretty grim and is why Rob played Edward so self-loathing and as if he is not quite sure he can control himself. They are afraid the fans would not like to see him that way. In Midnight Sun, Edward is actually thinking of killing all the students so it looks like a mass killing just so he can kill Bella and not raise suspicion. Meyer is writing a new book called the Host.

    • Ashley

I know what Midnight Sun is about and I think she should finish it. I like getting the story from both sides. And Stephanie has already written The Host and they are about to make that into a film.

      • JustMe

Oh, that is right. It is done and the go was given for the movie. I forgot, thanks. I think they should make Midnight Sun only if rated R since a lot of it is tied to sexual fantasy and killing.

      • Ashley

No I don’t foresee Midnight Sun being a movie… please God not poor Rob being in another Twilight film. But I would like to read the story. I personally do think SM owes her readers that much. It’s not our fault it was leaked so why punish us?! I mean it’s not like she wouldn’t be banking off of it or anything either.

    • Kim

I agree Ashleigh I would love the whole series in Edward’s pov. It would be a lot darker as Midnight Sun was but I do like to read all sides of a story.

  • Carla

They should have made Eclipse into two parts. I can only hope they follow through with the rumors that Breaking Dawn will be two parts as well.

  • Ashleigh

hey girls how is everyone doing today? you ladies prob wont like me when you hear this but i actually bought that Bree book today in waterstones – lol! :) it was half price though and i do love twilight so i thought i would give it a go, (shoot me now lol ;) )

anyways as for midight sun i really really wish she would finish that book- i think it is actually more interesting than twilight- i like edwards side of things more- i hope she does complete it soon… it is v good… better than bella’s viewpoint in a lot of ways…

also as for eclipse i cant wait to see it but im not holding out a lot of hope- this is not a popular opinion but i enjoyed new moon a lot more than twilight- and i thought the series would just get better each movie but from the clips i have seen i am worried- that one where edward grabs jacob after he kisses bella and the one where bella leaves edward standing to go off with jacob on the motorbike is totally different from the book- its so stupid- why can they not just stick to the novel??

  • Carla

Ashleigh, I agree completely. I enjoyed all of the books though, Eclipse is my favorite out of the saga. Stay true to the books and you will not have angry fans. I think Rob and Kristen do the best they can with what they have to work with, I blame the writers. As far as Midnight Sun, it is more of a vampire book than a love story and thus more errotic. I love it. I bought the Host and couldn’t get past the first couple of chapters without falling asleep. I never finished the book. So you bought the new book and said “shoot me now”…am I to take it that you hated the book? Why is it already 40% off????? Have you read Water for Elephants…if not I highly recommend it. Rob is perfect for the role of Jacob. It’s one of my favorite books. It’s dark but really good.

    • Ashleigh

hey carla thanks! no i havent read bree’s book yet= when i said shoot me now- i just meant i was ready to be attacked on here for buying the book in the first place lol! no i am going to read it later… yes totally agree with you on eclipse- its my fave too- and midnight sun is far more erotic and tense and really shows how dangerous edward is which doesnt come across that much in twilight…

no i havent read WFE yet- i will def have to read it along with Bel Ami lol- i have read the script for that and it is so hot lol!!! :)

also i think the reason why the book was half-price is cos it is just an introductory offer as its brand new…

      • Kim

Both Bel Ami and WFE are so good.

  • Carla

Thanks Asheligh- I heard you can read the book online for Brea Tanner…. I might try that first. In regard to Water for Elephants, it was great reading it picturing Rob as the star in the book and the other actors selected for the other character…Reese Witherspoon, etc… It really is a good book. Of course I plan on reading Bel Ami as well but I checked on line and its a bit pricey. Have you seen Little Ashes, Rob’s performance was brilliant… spot on when it comes to Salvador Dali. He really transforms in the movie.

    • Ashleigh

hey oh you are making me want to read the books so bad now lol! no i have only seen bits and pieces of little ashes on youtube- id like to watch it in full tho….

  • Ashley

Have.. have you girls seen the new WFE set pics???

    • lilbit

Nope wheres a good place to see them?

      • Ashley
      • Kim

Yes, I have. I’m so happy I asked for WFE last night to help forget Mtv Awards and I recd’ them. Thank you whoever heard me, you made me a very happy person.

      • lilbit

        OOOO tasty!

      • Ashley

LOL Kim! Well… it would appear is was a pap in a tree. Or.. he was hiding in the bushes.

      • Kim

I don’t really care who heard me as long as I was heard. Can I fantasize that it was Rob though and he said make her happy?

      • Ashley

Lol yes. Yes of course you can. ;)

      • lilbit

he looks so damn happy in those pics

      • Ashley

He looks a little tan too I think. And.. uh.. sweaty.

      • Kim

I’m thinking he has been washing in that “durt” again.

I wonder what he is reading? Maybe a book on how to care for your elephant? It looks like a book not his script.

      • lilbit

well he is a big reader

      • shadow

it really isn’t right for someone to be that damm handsome, i mean come on now, really? and sweet AND humble? WTH MAN!

  • Carla

Beware- spoilers on the book: Just keep in mind that throughout the book WFE his character is pennyless and gets his clothes from the other circus people…hand me downs and such. That’s why his clothes are shabby and don’t fit properly. He was a kid born well off but in his last semester of college for vet school and the depession hit, his father and mother are killed in a car accident and he is so devisated and broke that he walks away from everything to end up on a circus train. I love his new hair. Oh, he’s a virgin and is double teamed by two circus women while he is drunk but doesn’t remeber what happens and throws up on one of the circus women during..you know…. hahaha…it gets even more funny from there but I won’t ruin it for you.

    • Ashley

 Really? Okay I’m so gonna read this book now!

      • lilbit

You and me both Ashley, that sounds really interesting.

      • shadow

you should ash it was a great book..i just finsihed it last week :)

      • Ashley

Hi shadow! It’s on my to do list. ;)

    • Kim

I have to say WFE is one of my fav books now.

  • Carla

sorry for my spelling was in a hurry.

  • Carla

hahaha… I know huh….I want to read Bel Ami. I read that book Rob mentioned on Oprah. The Ballad of the Sad Cafe’ it was brilliant but very, very dark. I think he is too pretty to star in that if they ever do a remake. They made it into a movie once but it bombed.

    • Kim

I have that book to read, I have to admit I bought bc he reccd it. He reads a lot of different types of books, he is very well read.

  • Carla

I agree… I love his taste in books though… out of the norm. I was just wondering… does anyone think Edward will slice Victoria’s head off using his teeth in the movie like he does in the book? That would fall into the horror thing Rob was referring to. Also, the scene where Edward goes after Jacob over kissing Bella…it looked good with Edward blowing off some steam but I really hated that Bella didn’t seem angry. She was supposed to be in the car hoping Edwards does bodily harm to Jacob. It’s stuff like that …that just pisses me off.

    • Ashleigh

hey carla by the film stills it doesnt look like he slices her head off- it looks like he punches her out or something= i agree with you on everything- every scene ive seen of this movie is not like the book at all…. :( sad- they have prob ruined the best book of the lot…

    • JustMe

She did not seem angry because she does not have that much range. She plays ever role she has done very much the same. She looked annoyed not angry.

  • Ashleigh

hey again girls! please tell me im not the only one who thinks that this is all-round absolutely horrible! esp the ‘acting’ from everyone- serious this film looks like its going to suck so bad and its my fave book- :(

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VaFe8du9R7E&feature=player_embedded

    • Molly

Well, for one thing, Rob’s Amurrican accent is finally up to par: “Feye ast ya tuh stay inna car, woodja?” I’m ashamed to say so, but that *is* how we talk. It’s not only New Yawkahs that slur their words together like that; we all do, with regional variations.

  • Carla

I don’t know that, it’s my favorite book of the Saga… and the acting seems good to me its the plot they changed that bugs me. I blame the screenplay writer. But I’m thinking positive and I will probably go to see it a couple of times just to make sure. This happened to me with Harry Potter and the Prizoner of Azkaban. I was not happy at first but after a few times watching the DVD I ended up really liking it.. it grew on me. I find it hard to believe they can ruin Eclipse that bad though. It’s such a great book and the actors seem to really like it more than the others. They better not blow the tent scene. I saw an interview with the screenwriter and she mentioned the scene where Charlie talks to Bella about her virginity. So we know that funny scene is there. Oh, and Ashleigh…about Little Ashes…it’s a must see. You will love it. You have to keep in mind Salvador Dali had a way out there personality and the movie is about Lorca the poet as well. Rob looks funny at first but then transforms to a beauty. The naked mirror scene is funny because you realize that is so something Dali would do. I’m an artist and I love to read so I guess I really appreciated this movie. Rob really shows he is a great actor in this. He was great in the Haunted Airman as well…it was kind of out there was well but he was brilliant. It’s sick how talented he is …acting and music.

That would suck if they don’t have Edward completely rip Victoria apart in Eclipse.

    • shadow

i loved rob in how to be the best, i thought his portrayel(sp) of arthur was amazing, very underated IMO, i say this all the time, but i mean it, i wanted to hug that kid sooooo bad! lol

      • Ashley

LOL I just wanted to bath him! Oh but yeah.. hug him too!

      • shadow

ROFL ASH! a bath would work to! either way long as i could make him feel better!, doing it my way tho he’d be feeling so good he wouldn’t even remember his mother! (in the movie) that is…god don’t want to get attacked here….LOL

      • shadow

do you have the link g/f?

    • Kim

I still have to see Little Ashes and How to Be. I was not a big fan of The Haunted Airman, it was not something that I could get into, not saying Rob wasn’t any good, it was just confusing to me. I am waiting to watch Little Ashes and How to Be on nextflix.

      • shadow

kim you can watch both instant on the comp on netflix :)

      • Kim

Yeah I have to wait though we have our account on hold bc of financial reasons. I just saw Rob in a quick interview on Entertainment Tonight talking about Eclipse.

      • shadow

oh nm , lol you you meant on tv drrrr, my heads still on wfe pics LOL

  • Carla

LOL… I think he is far more sexy as himself that he is as Edward Cullen. I havent seen How To Be…I heard its good. Oh, if you want funny, the Brit TV Show he did Diary of a Bad Mother or something like that….that was good. I love Doctor Who and one of the stars from that show is on the TV show was well. It was done pre Twilight. It’s coming out on DVD.

    • JustMe

You can watch How To Be for free on NetFlix if you can not find it. He is good in The Bad Mother’s Handbook and The Summer House too.

  • open book!

    Hi Carla,

I believe Eclipse will be a much better movie than TW & NM. Have u seen any of Slade’s other movies? From what I’ve seen of his work he is a very detailed storyteller and builds suspense in films really well.

One of my biggest complaints about NM was it’s ending. I believe Weitz did not get the MDA (Major Dramatic Action) correct in the movie. He could have done whatever he wanted with the beginning and middle but he needed to nail the ending. So many movies today in HW are written in a non-linear format and TW is linear storytelling.

IMO: I think Weitz assignment was to focus on Jacob and reduce Edward to create a fan base for T. When Summit announced they were going to replace T for NM fans came out in support. Based on this response Summit believed they could make T into R but it failed.

Also, a screenwriter doesn’t have that much influence on how a movie gets made unless they are also the director. But the responsibility is on the director and producer on how a movie turns out. A screenwriter will do an outline but a script goes through a lot of revisions by the director and actors after a writer is finished. The script supervisor then makes these changes after Rosenberg is no longer involved. So all Rosenberg can hope for is they follow her suggestions on format.
