MARIAH Carey is just weeks away from announcing she’s expecting her first child with husband Nick Cannon.

Insiders say the superstar singer — who has had months of false alarms and spent a fortune on fertility treatment — is waiting until she’s past the three-month mark to announce the news in public.

“Mariah’s thought she was pregnant a few times recently,” a source told Britain’s Now magazine.

“Her periods have been late, but it’s always been a false alarm. She can’t believe their luck, but wants to wait a few more weeks before she tells the world.

“Under normal circumstances Mariah would be livid with Nick for letting the news slip [he confirmed the news to fans at an event in Malibu on 30 May, saying, "The bump is bigger - you can almost see it now!"] — but she can understand his excitement, so she hasn’t gone mad at him.”

Previous reports claimed Carey and Cannon are expecting twins.
