Taylor Lautner: ‘Fame Hasn’t Changed my Home Life’

The actor, 18, says despite his fame and success, he still prefers living a fairly simple life in his family’s home in Valencia, Calif., just north of LA.

“The thing I love is that my home life hasn’t changed,” the Twilight hunk tells GQ magazine in its July issue.

“I still help out with the garbage. I still help out with the lawn.

“There’s some things you just have to live with.

“Like 12 cars camping outside your house, and when you wake up in the morning, they’re going to follow you wherever you go. It helps that I live in Valencia. It eliminates some. But they’re still here.”

Taylor — who has a slew of high profile projects in the works, including Stretch Armstrong and Abduction – says despite his success with Twilight, he doesn’t think about box office totals while he works.

“I can’t get caught up in that,” he told GQ. “If I start thinking, ‘Is this movie going to open? Is this movie going to do well?’ I’m not focusing on the job. The job is to make a good movie.”

    I wonder when yard mowing day is at the Lautner household?I think we should all take a vacation and go watch him mow the lawn especially during those hot summer days in California.We could always provide him with something cold to drink when he needs it.

    Such a smart, sweet kid. I think it says a lot about his parents that he still does chores at home. It says a lot about his parents how nice, well spoken and respectful he is! Taylor is the youngest of the cast and he is the most respectable of the bunch! I also think his Martial Arts background gives him that level of maturity.

    I think it is wonderful that he tries to maintain some normalcy at home. Things are crazy for him everywhere else. I hope he is able to continue to have a grounded home life and be able to watch “American Idol” every week. Then he maybe won’t wind up like a Lindsay Lohan or other young actors whose lives have deteriorated due to drugs.
    As much as I’d love to be able to just meet him, we just need to give him his privacy.

    It is so very refreshing to see a normal hollywood kid!! Most of them by the time they reach his age are drug addicts pr drunks!! Great parenting Taylor’s mom and dad!! Keep up the good job and keep your son grounded!!
