Robert Pattinson: ‘It Felt Natural Kissing Kristen Stewart’

Robert Pattinson and Kristen StewartROBERT Pattinson says it felt “more natural” to kiss Kristen Stewart in The Twilight Saga: Eclipse.

The heartthrob says the smooching scenes were easier in the third installment of the franchise because his vampire character Edward Cullen knows he will not “kill” Bella Swan, played by Kristen, by locking lips with her.

“Kissing felt a little bit more natural in Eclipse, even if there was plenty of it,” Rob told Parade magazine.

“In New Moon and ‘Twilight it was always like, ‘Oh, I’m gonna kill you if I kiss you,’ or something. It was always kind of odd. But, in this one, they both understand their situation a lot more, which makes it easier.

“It’s the first time Kristen and I have been able to just act like a normal couple.”

Robert, 24, refused to confirm whether it was his rumored real-life romance with Kristen, 20, that made their love scenes easier.

“I guess people like stories, that’s my basic conclusion,” he said. They just want everything in our lives to be like Twilight.

“The truth is… that I wish I had a few more hours of sleep today so I could think of a better answer. I’m always so exhausted all the time. Lack of sleep is like taking a Valium.”

    Oh – of COURSE this statemet had to be made! :roll:
    First, ‘It was uncomfortable’ kissing her at the MTV awards, for the cringe-worthy NON-kiss, heard ’round the world. Fans certainly CAN’T have that! I sure hope these two are better actors than they are live performers because the uncomfortable scene of them even sharing the stage, let alone ‘attempting’ to FAKE a kiss made me wince in embarrassment for both of them. It kinda sucks, because although I haven’t read a whole lot about this in awhile, it seems that every time Robert comes out with any shred of truth – ie. – he is NOT dating Shrew – Some kind of B.S. like this pops up. I swear he’s recalled more lately than Toyota. Wish this crappy PR machine would drop it already. There are very few buying into this anymore, really, it’s more than ok to just let.it.go.

        Sorry, I will try and find a better link for u. However, R was very relaxed, wore a suit looked very professional. His parents were in audience to support him. R talked about his father very genuinely. No hands in hair, no questions about K or Robsten. Over all he did good! U would be proud of R.

        I’m so glad to hear it! I love that his family keeps him grounded. That says so much of his character. I’m not trying to be ignorant towards Shrew in the following statement, but I can’t be the only one that notices how differently he behaves after he spends a good amount of time away from her. As you said, no hands through the hair, behaving and dressing professionally, and genuine. When dealing with PRsten, he is always uncomfortable because he KNOWS he is being deceitful and it makes him squirm.

    And, I’m sure shippers will run crazy(ier) with the statement of him and Kristen acting like a couple. Sure wish he would have said he and Bella. As he is referring to E & B acting like a couple. Always throw a bone to both sides, right? Statement can be taken any way your little heart desires. Maybe their every word shouldn’t be scutinized, but those insane shippers will lose sleep over the tiniest shred of compunction.

      I think u bring up a lot of good points! I wrote about this last night because all these interviews over the weekend reeks of Summit PR working harder than BP oil workers to clean up K’s mess!

      It’s strange all the interviews R/K/T are doing have managed to stop people talking about K’s bad press. Summit is trying to turn the negative press surrounding K by focusing on Robsten. But can u blame them? There are really crazy fanatics who make death threats if R/K are not selling Robsten. Then Nonsten’s and Krisbian’s are threatening to stop supporting R/K if they are selling Robsten.

      R/K are actors “professional liars” paid to act. Off screen R/K don’t really owe fans anything except respect if they want respect. Don’t hide behind inane PR stunts to divert attention from K’s deplorable behavior and bad press. Yes, u can use Robsten to please TW fanatics but let’s be serious PR is using Robsten to cover up the bad press generated by K a week ago. People forget bad press by quickly creating or generating positive press that’s PR 101. True to form Summit pulled out the Robsten life raft to save the franchise. Go figure!

      I could only get the first part of the interview to load, thank you for the link.
      From what I gather, the way he makes mention of how his father states how vulgar he found the award show to be, he, by extension is letting the public know that it made him uncomfortable as well. I kind of get the idea that this is a little damage control for Rob as well, as in speaking of his family values. In all reality, he can not, without hurting the franchise and his career, come out against shrews behavior, so it looks to me as though he is trying to show the public that he does not share those characteristics. Make sense?

    I could not agree with you more with everything you have said.
    Kristen’s behavior has been absolutely deplorable and unacceptable. The only problem I see is that the Robsten life raft itself, is so full of holes at this point, I don’t know how much longer it can stay afloat. I agree that Summit created this two-headed monster and should be responsbile, in SOME measure, but when do you start holding BOTH of these two to task for their involvement? Do we give them a pass for lying and deceiving fans because they were young and niave when they signed on and didn’t expect this to turn into such an epic pandemonium?
    I can see this going badly for either side. I get the feeling there are a lot of people holding their breath walking a very high, tightrope on this. I have read lately that now fans of Rob are saying that if he supports Kristen’s behavior then he must also be ‘like that’ or that he at the very least finds it acceptable and condones her actions. I really don’t see them pleasing everyone any longer. It is such a shame that the PTB have let this get so far out of hand that fans will be affected. This should have been dealt with HONESTLY from the beginning.

      True! I think however K is the only person who should be taken to task for needing to use the Robsten PR. K advisors are very poor and are trying to play the current HW popular tabloid scandal crap to promote K. Her no compromise tough girl image is what they’re selling. I wrote about it more extensively a few days ago. I copied it for u below.

      Technically! All actors are “professional liars.” On screen, Actors take on different characteristics and values as their career.

      However, off screen an actor’s persona needs to stay consistent so people feel comfortable enough to trust them. If an actor persona is too distorted off screen people can’t distinguish the “truth” or real person from another “lie” or ACT. Therefore, making the viewing audience feel like the Actors is being patronizing and condescending.

      IMO: K needs better advisors.

        Very insightful!! I have never looked at things from that perspective, but it really makes sense!
        The thing is, Rob is NOT like Edward and has stated such, BUT, he is so endearing because he is humble and shy and self-effacing and people just want him to be Rob and don’t necessarily want or need him to behave in the same manner as his on-screen personas. However, Kristen seems to have no redeeming quailites that she can reveal to the public, so those who follow her so blindly do so out of devotion to the character (lie) they adore. You are right, she is the one who needs the PR to conceal her true self. I suppose if she would have ridden her gravy train due to an enormous success based on TRA – she would be more accepted. Personally, I believe that people find her so offensive because she couldn’t be further from the character of Bella that is so adored. She will play the PR game for Robsten but refuses to conform even in the slightest for Bella.
        The worst part? Summit is changing Bella into Kristen in the films instead of the other way around.

        Hi everyone. Some real insightful thoughts as usual. I agree they are using Rob to make Kristen look better but in fact it is just damaging Rob. Nearly everyone here thought the MTV awards were crap, made them look like idiots and I am so glad his dad said it was vulgar because it was and it cheapened Rob. I wonder if his parents have been pushing the stop Robsten wagon as they can surely see Rob benefits nothing from it. Is Rob the only one dping solo interviews

        Hi Rachel. you are right about the awards, it really could have damaged Rob’s reputation, but I don’t think it had much of a negative affect, because he was one of the only ones who was given the opportunity to drop the F bomb and didn’t. It was clear to me that he was shocked and uncomfortable during Peter’s speech as well. I’m not saying he is a saint, but I think he understands appropriate public behavior. And, I think his parent’s respect means a lot to him and he is not going to do anything to jeapordize that. Of course, I could be all wrong, but that is kind of my take on things. Him doing solo interviews in itself speaks volumes!!

    I believe now that R has a little more influence in HW he can act and be more assertive about revealing more of himself. U can see from his parents he was raised to behave and act like a gentlemen. Which are prehistoric fossil ideas in HW. Today every celebrity needs to be vulgar, tough and rude to stay relevant. They do this to appeal to younger audiences. So scandal, oversaturation in media is the way to go in HW. But younger audiences are far more sophisticated than HW gives them credit for. It’s boring and overrated. I have written about this and will post it later.

And, I am happy to see that Rob is growing up and beginning to behave as a 24 year old MAN as he did during the Jay Leno interview. I just hope he doesn’t revert back for Eclipse and BD promos. He has left Shrew in the dust. It is a shame, and she no one to blame but herself, as she could have had an amazing career and a full calendar, if only she knew the definition of accpetable behavior. And respect, as you said earlier, if she knew how to respect the public and the fans.

      Open Book thanks for the link to Jay Leno interview. Yesterday I was all pumped to look at it but I fell asleep. When I got this morning a remembered about it.

      He was well dressed. And act professionally no hands in hair. Agree with you guys that the second email he read from his father shows in a subtle way that he uncomfortable in the MTV awards show with the vulgarity

    Lisa made a great point about RP and Leno. One of the sweet emails from his father was advice on how to respectfully woo a woman upon meeting her. Why would his father feel his son needed advice on the matter if he knew his son had a long time GF? RP also made sure to add “this is just from the other day” so there was no way it could be twisted as being an old email.

      The more I see of this, the more I can NOT buy into PRsten. It has been nothing but a sham – very badly played out. It is so sweet how respectful he is towards his parents and how they show up to his appearances to show their support. I really believe that Rob’s discomfort during PF’s acceptance speech was genuine, and the emails he received from his dad let those of us know for a fact that is how he felt. It sucks that he is having to do his own form of damage control due to his association with Shrew and her ridiculous behavior! After hearing the emails – one could almost crush on Rob’s dad too. LOL

        Sorry to have vanished as I did, but it will probablly happen again, as I am working through a lot of things at the moment.
        Katie- My weekend was peaceful. I have taken over my bosses pool for the summer and much to my great surprise – he is ok with that. :D So, I’m rockin’ an awesome tan already. LOL The remodling is done in the kitchen and den, now I’ve started on the foyer and master bedroom. I just have all these ideas, and I figure it serves me better to stay busy.

        D-At least one of us has a head start in the tan department.I have to be careful on the tanning part.If i am going to be outside all day I have to wear a baseball cap because I have my own version of the Harry Potter scar on my forhead.My doctor told me if I don’t wear a baseball cap it will tan.The problem is when the tan fades everywhere else,it wont fade on the scar.

With the Robsten fans want to put another spin to it they must check out his other statement. “It’s the first time Kristen and I have been able to just act like a normal couple.” All emphasis should be placed on the WORD “ACT”.

    Wow…people put a lot of thought into two celebrities. What has Kristen done that’s so wrong? She’s a shy girl..she doesn’t like a lot of intrusion into her life and so she flipped the bird. She also made a mistake in saying that it was like being raped but forgive the girl everyone makes mistakes. What else? oh she smoked some weed? big whoop. I can’t understand people saying she is having problems with P.R. etc. Kristen and Rob seem like ordinary, intelligent people…real folks who are working hard on their craft. I thought the fake kiss thing was silly but not a big deal. I wish that the P.R. folks would just admit to them going out too but they have their reasons I suppose. I don’t know…to sum it up I just can’t see why people put so much importance on their appearances besides just enjoying their work.

    Does anyone remember Lady Diana? She was hounded by the Paparazzi until she was killed. She was literally killed by the paps b/c they would not leave her alone. I think it was ok for someone to make an analogy regarding the situation she feels sheis in everyday regarding these disrespectful people that are in their face day in day out. I can’t judge what it is like to be her b/c I have never walked in her shoes. I love each of the characters and I can’t judge any of them b/c I am not any of them. Why can’t you appreciate their entertainment and stop complaining?

    I simply am thankful for such a wonderful movie and movies and being entertained. I love the books and the movies and am grateful to all the actors that bring this to life. If people get offended that is their problem to deal with.

      Daisy, Hi! :) I appreciate your thoughts on the Diana accident. I adored Princess Diana. I believed her to be one of the most classy and elegant ladies of my generation. Not to even mention her beauty, both inside and out. I cried for days after she died. However, you can’t even begin to compare the media surrounding Diana to what Shrew has ever experienced. Even at the slightest level. And, given the fact of what Diana suffered through with the humilitaion of a very public divorce and multitude of betrayals, never ONCE did she flip of a photographer, curse them out, or lash out at them. I’m sorry, but there is absolutely, NO comparission what-so-ever here.

      I love it. Yes you are right Robert: Kristen PLAYS Kristen. She is nothing like Bella. She brought herself into the role and gave the books and Bella the finger =/ And I hate all the smacking sounds their mouths make. Rob and Kris even when they are not kissing~ their mouths make smacking sounds. It creeps me out and it’s gross. Lol Sorry just had to say that! :)

    What about that darn star magazine, yes I understand I do read thru it sometimes, I admit it but it doesn’t mean I believe everything either. It stated that Robert Kept Kissing Kristen’s neck at the MTV movie awards. Now, correct me if I am wrong, but if they want to be so private and not answer questions referring to them as a couple, then why kiss and do all that affection stuff in public at and award show, especially where every person is seeing this ??? Confused LOL.

      He was talking about their characters in the film because in the privious ones they had to kiss only on the lips. That’s how it’s written in the books.
      Of course the media edited the interview so that it sounds as if he’s talking about him and her and not their characters.

    I don’t feel Kristen is the bad person you all are trying to make her out to be. So what she swears, I know a lot of intelligent people who cuss like sailors. So being intelligent has nothing to do with the way you chose to speak. And let’s not forget how Rob put his foot in his mouth a few months ago after having a few drinks. Let’s not forget about him talking about the “negroes”.We were all kids once and we tended to do things differently when our parent weren’t watching. So Rob is not saint either.

    I love both actors whether they are together or not.Personally I think they have some thing, what I don’t know. I love the obvious chemistry they have on screen as well as off. You people need to lighten the hell up.

    Oh BTW, Princess Dianna may not have showed out in public but she probably had some choice words behind closed doors.
    I would rather a person be real in there person life. Save all that acting for the movies!Be you Kristen Stewart for all those haters out there, you can kick rocks!

    Yes, Kristen is a bad person. She’s a drug addict, she has a filthy mouth, she is ungrateful to her fans and the career opportunities she’s gotten, she cheated on her boyfriend numerous times and those are just a few examples.
