COULD Amanda Bynes be heading for a breakdown?

The actress, 24, took to Twitter Sunday to announce that she’s retiring from Hollywood.

“Being an actress isn’t as fun as it may seem,” she Tweeted. “If I don’t love something, I stop doing it. I don’t love acting anymore, so I’ve stopped doing it.”

But Bynes’ publicist, Melissa Raubvogel, is telling a different story, insisting she “sounded great” as late as last Thursday when she was doing press for her upcoming movie, Easy A.

Raubvogel told the New York Daily News that Bynes had said she wanted to “take some down time” but never mentioned retiring.

Bynes — who rose to fame on Nickelodeon’s All That and her own comedy series, The Amanda Show — hasn’t had a hit movie since 2007′s Hairspray.
