ASHLEY Greene will be forever grateful to Twilight – because the movie series allowed her to escape the hellish world of waitressing!

The actress, 23, believes she would still be taking orders now if it wasn’t for her vampire role.

“Twilight gave me my career,” she said. “I would still be working in a restaurant if it wasn’t for this.

“I’ll never forget how lucky I am.”

Greene recently insisted acting is her “true calling”.

I’ve always thought it would be completely awful to look back on my life and wonder what would have happened had I only taken a chance on something I wanted to achieve,” she said.

“At 15 I decided that acting was my true calling and that I needed to leave high school to pursue it seriously. Luckily I had parents who were completely supportive. I also had the confidence. I was driven to it because I knew I could make it happen. If I’d waited a few years, maybe that confidence would have evaporated. If you have a dream, then the time to start chasing it is now. Don’t wait until tomorrow. You owe it to yourself to follow your dream.

“A few years ago I was walking along a cliff in California with a friend and she jokingly suggested we jump in the sea. I took that as a challenge and went ahead and did it. The feeling was incredible and I was buzzing for days.

“Right at the top of my list of things I must do this year are skydiving and deep-sea diving. I want to do those things while I’m still young and feel a little fearless. I’m not one of life’s great risk-takers, but just occasionally I like to feel the thrill of danger.”
