ROBIN WILLIAMS DESPERATE TO PLAY THE RIDDLER IN NEXT BATMAN MOVIE!!!

Posted by Adam

Robin WilliamsROBIN Williams wants to star in the next Batman movie.

The Hollywood legends says he’d love to play the The Riddler when the caped-crusader makes another big screen outing.

“I would do Batman in a second,” said the 58-year-old.

“I’d play The Riddler in the next one, although it would be hard to top Heath Ledger as the villain and I’m a little hairy for tights.”

Williams says he’ll ask for the role in what will be director Christopher Nolan’s third Batman caper.

But the Old Dogs star is wary — he was offered The Joker and The Riddler in the past but was twice overlooked.

Robin recently revealed he feels “like a cow” following his lifesaving heart surgery a year ago.

“I have a cow heart and the best thing about being part cow is that I can crap when I walk now,” he said earlier this year.

“But I find it hard to eat beef. It’s like I’m one of them!”

i just want to say that i think that robin williams should be considered for the roll of the riddler i think he’d make a great riddler heath ledger will be hard to surpass but i think robin williams has some weight under his belt for the role. he wont go overboard like some in the past.

robin – i love your movies and i think you’d do great :) i hope you get to play in the next batman :)

  • michael

I much rather have him be THE Ventriloquist

  • steven cook

i dont think he would make a good riddler but know as toyman he would be perfect

  • Cal

I think that Robin could be a very likely candidate if they do decide to have The Riddler as the next Batman villain. Robin is not only a comedic genius with his acting but is also a very good dramatic actor as well, so he could definitely pull it off.

  • Joey

You are AWESOME Robin!! You deserve ANY role in the world you want to play. If you want to do it then you will do a masterful job at it. You are also maybe the funniest man alive!

  • Dave

I hope he knows there is no chance of him even being considered for the role of The Riddler.

    • Christian

If not the Riddler, mabye some other villan? Batman Begins and The Dark Knight have had more then 1 villan, so mabye he could do another?

  • carly

@dave, that’s not necessarily true. williams has already worked with nolan before (“insomnia”) and christopher nolan is pretty loyal to his actors. not to mention he plays a freaking scary bad guy (“one hour photo” and “insomnia”). i could see this being a great role for him.

    • Gary

I agree. He isn’t funny, never has been. He would ruin the movie. Even a cameo would suck.

      • chattyk

Robin Williams is great at any role he plays-i can easily see him as the riddler, but there will never be another Dark Knight to play the joker-

  • Hannah

robin williams is an idiot he would ruin the movie all he does is those stupid voices the role he should get is fat murder victim number 1

    • Ryan

You are crazy and wrong… Think again! It would help if you knew what you were talking about.

    • debby

he is funny as heck.. u r a moron

  • Juster

    Let’s let Robin play Robin….

  • Mikecro

He is too old to play the riddler, but this man deserves to get any role he wants. This man is a real actor and I’m sure that is what Nolan is looking for. But, like I said, he is too old to play the riddler. He’ll be good in a batman film though. And Hannah, if you think all he does is joke around, then maybe you should watch his “serious” roles which are fantastic.

  • Ivy

Why can’t Jim Carrey reprise the roll? He was phenominal the first time!

  • Mork

Robin Williams would be an excellent Riddler. Just having his name attached to the Batman franchise is a guaranteed box office draw.

  • http://www.myspace.com/bibby44 Mike

Wow, I never even thought about Robin Williams being a villian in the next Batman film. I had juggled in between wanting to see Johnny Depp (The Riddler of course), Ray Liota (as killer croc), Ellen Page (as Harlequine), Kate Beckinsale (as Catwoman) Kevin Nash (as Bane). I think Robin would be a really great villian, he should get some part either way it would be incredible to see.

    • SiC

Johnny Depp (as The Riddler), Kate Beckinsale (as Catwoman). Now Thats A movie I’d pay to see. I wouldn’t mind seeing Ashley Greene take a shot at the role of Catwoman etheir. She does have horror films under her belt that could help bring a darker image.

    • Tom

Wow! You folks have spent WAAAYYYYY too much time thinking about this. Go out now, and be productive.

  • http://Yahoo subicsu

I think Robin Williams could play any role, he is one of the greatest actors around, he reminds me allot of Bob Pope one of the greatest actors in Comedy.

  • Ed

Williams is too old for the character of Edward Nigma. The suggestion of the Ventriloquist was a good one. And, Robin Williams not going over the top in a role? Really? We’re talking about Robin Williams. He’s is almost always over the top (yes, even in his serious roles). Mostly it works though so no problem.

  • http://www.showbizspy.com Livingston

Actually,Robin Williams just may have a shot at pulling off such a role.He has always been a comedian, and he has also proven that he can be on the deranged side with roles in such movies as Insomnia and One-Hour Photo. These are two sides of the Riddler for anyone who knows enough about villians in the Batman genre.

  • j obrien

I thought he turned this role down the last time around, and it went to Jim Carrey.

  • Ryan

Yes yes yes!!! First of all I have to say that Robin Williams is my favorite actor. He never ceases to amaze me. Other actors may leave a great mark but he always leaves the greatest one. He has had a tough break for a while which he didn’t deserve and always does a great job… A lot of people think he just does voices but you are wrong wrong wrong!!! He very successfully does voices and… That is one of the very minor things he has done in the past anyway. I can think of plenty of performances where he did not concentrate on a voice. He has done good for the world in many cases that I can see… There is no reason to be insulting him here or downing his abilities. I say that if he has a small request for one role that I know he’ll be great at I say we let him have it… The only person I’d even like to see him compared to for this role is Jim Carrey because he did it in the past but I say that is a small chance he would do it again… He always touches my heart no matter what role he plays… Think of how many times this man has touched your hearts and left a mark forever… He deserves a major role like none other… He has the perfect personality for the role anyway…

Robin Williams deserves this role and I say go get ‘em favorite actor. =)

  • Ron

How about Robin Williams as villan with personality of Mork from series “Mork and Mindy” and power of the genie
in the cartoon movie. Should be interesting.

  • Jason

Robin Williams seems to fit the role of the Mad Hatter!

  • Gnez

As a long time Robin Williams fan, I’m sure Robin Williams would be great in any role he chose to play including the Riddler, and since Heath Ledger played the part of the JOKER I see no basis for comparison.

  • steve

i think Johnny Depp would be a better riddler (as he stated he would love to play the part as ell), though i love RW. Robin could play the ventriloquist and danny devito can reprise his role as the penguin, oswald cobblepot.

  • chattyk

although there will never be another Dark Knight Robin Williams would be fantastic to play the riddler!!!!

  • lyndon bookout

williams would be a great riddler,so he is 58 but he is in good condition for his age, there is people in their 20′s that look niddle aged or older, besides look at sly stalone he was 61 when he made the john rambo movie he could still whip a young adult so go for it robin you have my vote and iam sure you have alot of other votes to,why not run for president later after obama does he’s two terms.

  • sportguy2k

    Overlooked…is an understatement!!!

Robin Williams has clearly demonstrated sheer greatness on the small screen, big screen, and comedy.

The diversity in the roles he has played, even himself in his absolute hilarity, is one of the greatest comic minds in entertainment history.

To play the Riddler in Batman 3, he would totally bring the house down for the lightning wit, focused demeanor as a serious actor, and the “Wild Card”…he is on and off-screen one of the finest human beings entertainment has ever graced our presence.

This is a Grade “A”, award winning personality that would be the finest choice for a producer and director to make.

Please…make it happen and fans proud.

  • http://yahoo kenneth holloway

ok guys BACK UP Williams was offered the job of the villian before. i DO believe he would be the greatest joker ever.No disrepect to Mr. Ledger’s stellar performance.Quite possibly Mr. Williams could outriddle Jim Carrey. Anybody that can take an egg, toss it into the air,and declare “Fly be free” and get a 7 year old to laugh now he has the gift! I certainly hope i am mistaken but i believe Robin Williams has let too many opportunities pass to be what is expected of the villians. I am a die hard Robin Williams fan and i would love to see him in a comic strip movie but i don`t think this is it! Robin “Plastic Man” Williams!!!!!!!!!

  • andrew francis

I think it’s great, it’s deserved. My respects to the great Jim Carrey,he has had his time…I toy with the idea of seeing him again with this new director, but it’s really Robin’s time now.Age has nothing to do with it.I’d just like him to do his”Fisher King” acting rather than his “Mrs. Doubtfire” acting….I think it would be an astounding Batman.Johnny Depp’s career is only going up – it will be his time in the future – and we’ll be pleased yet again.

  • Pete

Heath Ledger was thought to be a very bad casting choice for The Joker during pre-production of Dark Night, and wow did he shock the world. I think Robin Williams is one of the most underated and overlooked dramatic actors out there and would be an awesome choice for The Riddler.

  • Phil Mann

The role that Robin W. ought to be desperate to play would be that of the late Lord Buckley! I can only guess that the Buckley estate has refused to allow him to make a biopic on Richard Lytle (Lord) Buckley.

  • http://Yahoo Ram Reynolds

Robin Williams is more scarry than funny! He would be excellent for the role of the Riddler. That’s why he can change voices. Think about it. Changing voices at the drop of a hat? That’s really Scarry guys!!

  • chris

he may be too old.. just depends how they write the movie.. assuming they have a young batman they would probe want a villain in the same age bracket. i think he would be good ( and BETTER than j carry who was WAYYY over the top)… he could also be..
the mad hatter, egghead, king tut (that one might actually be good)….lots of possibilities… be interesting to see what they decide…

  • Gerardk

Robin Williams’ time may have already passed. He already turned both roles down and the pace and the momentum of the franchise is such that there is little room for nostalgia or third chances now. He is too old and is starting ooze desperation about what he wants to do. No producer will touch him right NOW WITH BOTH his heart surgery and his recurrent addictions. No Riddler for him, perhaps the Ventriloquist. He might do a good job with that. But he had better lower his gun sights. He needs to take a smaller role and break out with that to reaffirm to Hollywood that he is back, sober and healthy.

    • Spike

Dude! Lighten up! Pull that stick out and chill….we’re just talking about movies! JEEZ!

  • fiore.george

Kiss his butt all you want. This man has made his money and should go away. Freak, perv. Don’t forget about the s.t.d.’s he has passed along. Did you forget about the women he has infected?????? This man has been a piece of shit with feet in my book for a looooong time. Mork the dork. Suck on him if you will but he is to infukted for me. Douchbags you all are, just like him. Go put your dress on, Mr. Mom”s.

  • fiore.george

    c/ya.

  • SweetLavender

Robin Williams starring as the Riddler? Oo I can’t really picture him in that role :/ I think Jim Carey should take that role again as he did in Batman: Forever. He did a good job

  • ghasem

    helo

  • James

I thought David Tennant (Doctor WHo) was due to play the Riddler. If you ask me, he’s a lot more suited for the role than Robin Williams is. To me, Robin Williams seems more suited for The Penguin, or as mentioned, the Ventriloquist than the Riddler. Better still, Robin Williams can be Clayface! Now that would really suit him! That way, he’d be an evil version of Aladdin’s Genie!

  • Sorry Robin

I will say no to Robin this is not . He would have been better than Jim in the first one but I think they should go dark with someone like Rob Zombie or along those lines . The Dark Knight is a Grafic Novel and not some campy Comic . Put some teeth on the riddler and make him sinister and evil , not a comedian .

  • marjorie

    absolutely PERFECT casting!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • bruno

REALLY ? Robin WillIams as the riddler? Maybe >>>>>> But heath ledger was NOOOOOO Joker. If he did not die, the movie was a flop, Not a great movie. The only reason it did well was the death of Ledger. Other than that the movie was just alright. Robin might make a good character or not depending on your point of view, but you have to admit he is a good actor Bruno

    • etriganbulldog

Weird. Have some of what you’re on sent to my room. Ledger, who was downright awful in other movies (my OPINION) was universally acclaimed, the movie moreso than it’s predessors. And of course, the box-office. The arguement could be made that with a greater protion contribution by Ledger evem more money could have been made and an Academy Award as well (it’s actually very difficult to win if your dead, it turns out)

  • gary

The Riddler originally is a suave yet smart puzzlemaster, not what Jim Cary painted him to be. Williams also would be a tad old. Johnny Depp or David Tenent would be better. Though I don;t see why we need the Riddler in the film as there are dozens more Batman villains that Nolan can use.

  • http://www.sobulldogs.com Kit

Robins Williams is by far, my most favorite actor, and I believe he can act in any role and pull it off with flying colors. CAST HIM!

  • dan

    I SAY PEINGUIN

  • Dennis Carter

Do you think Robbin could keep a straight face. I don’t think so!!

  • Skyler

Nolan said that if they do choose to have The Riddler in the third installment, he would really like to have Joseph Gordon-Levitt to play him.

Personally, I can’t see Robin being casted as The Riddler.

  • declan5

Williams is a classically trained actor from Julliard.
He’s great when he’s kept on a short leash and not
given room to go off with his over-the-top, often
    distracting “comic” antics.
My favorite Williams roles are always his rare serious
or darker ones. I loved him in “Dead Again”, “Fisher King”, “Insomnia”, “One Hour Photo”, “Good Will Hunting”, his
guest spot on TV’s “Homicide” and god forgive me for
including this…”Death to Smoochy” (a guilty pleasure.)

As to Williams, the comedian. I’ve always felt that he’s
playing William Tell with a Tommy Gun. Countless bullets
are sprayed but few hit the apple.

  • Cassie

Why must we see this man anymore? -He’s become a clown who is very sad and tragic below the surface.

  • Lori

YES! Cast him as The Riddler! I don’t like Batman, but I very well might see the movie with Robin Williams in it!

  • http://yahoo Cindy

I think that fiore.george should look in the mirror, are you jealous.you try being in the arts and everyone talking shit you’d be just the same.you really piss me off dude, justSHUT UP,leave Robin alone.he is one of the best ever and has been from the very begining,it’s not easy pleasing millions. i love you Robin you can do it all.

  • etriganbulldog

    Love Robin buuuuut
Have you seen his last 6 movies?
Did you see the last two Batman movies?
Johnny Depp could do a more polished, faux-rehabilitated Joker,OR the Riddler. Or Jim Carrey, who might actually look forward to playing it “dead” straight? Or..lots of other guys.
Not Williams. He wouldn’t be able to help himself. Posters keep refering to his comedic talent. For the love of Pete, not here, PLEASE.
The reality of this was already posted. An article based on wishful thinking by his “staff”.

  • DAVE

ROBIN WILLIAMS SHOULD PLAY TONY ZUCCO, HE’D BE THE LEADER OF HIS BROTHERS AND HE’S A MOB BOSS TOO! hE WORKS IN THE CIRCUS AS A KNIFE THROWER WHO KILLED THE GRAYSONS. AWESOME. THE RIDDLER WAS DONE, IT COULD BE DONE AGAIN, BUT LETS DO SOMETHING NEW AND DIFFERENT!!

rOBIN YO’ER A FREAK!!! PLAY TONY ZUCCO!!!

  • mark

ROBIN is better off as TOY MAN or SIMON (THE PIE BAKER) his comedy genius is just right for both characters

  • Steve

You sir,are probably the smartest man on the planet as of today, Good Luck

  • MR Clean

Hes asking for the role becuase he was shot down long long time ago, and Jim Carrey took the role instead. Jim of course is the next Robin Williams only taller, skinnier, less up to date with current affairs, and able to dislocate his joints on cue on stage whenever possible.

  • Morgan

Absolutely not. Williams should have retired long ago as his ‘schtick’ is old and tired now. He was a mediocre comic at best and his dramatic work is laughable…schmaltzy and cheesy. Also, I don’t agree with the Depp suggestions either. He has played way too many weirdos. So much so, that everyone expects it now. Did you see ALICE IN WONDERLAND?!? Awful. And enough. A younger and not so well known actor would be best. As for Heath Ledger, he wasn’t a great actor but GOOD, and only would have improved with age. His Joker was inspired, unlike the ‘joke’ of a Joker played by Nicholson years ago.

    • etriganbulldog

Nicholson was good, considering who was directing. Can you believe Burton directing, Nick Cage acting and Kevin Smith writing…Superman! It almost happened (Wikipedia) and then a bunch of people came to their senses…not before those guys got paid.
I hope that doesn’t happen here.

  • Capt Obvious

Wow I never even considered Williams for the role. Excellent idea. I think that alot of people who don
t agree perhaps may be thinking that Williams will be doing the role in his usual styles of acting. (CHIP NOOO!! lol…) He’ll be doing the Riddler, not Aladin’s blue slave.. Like Ledger for instance. I didn’t once even come close to expecting how he would have pulled that one off. I still seen him dancing on the stands in 10 things I Hate About You. Then to see how it turned out it was good.
AND since the movies aren’t so weak sauce pg friendly like the previous, I imagine a dark scary Riddler would be right up William’s alley.

  • Dave

Robin Williams is an idiot. In my opinion he is not funny at all. He’s more annoying than anything.

  • Kimmie

Johnny Depp has this role. But they should give Robin another role for the movie.

  • MattC

Robin’s a fossil. Jack Nicholson was replaced with a younger, energetic Heath Ledger. Let’s have a young, refreshing Riddler too.

  • tidentrue12

if he doesnt get the part…I would like to see Edward Norton play the part

  • tidentrue12

if he doesnt get it…I would like to see Edward Norton play the part

  • Jimmy

Phillip Seymour Hoffman as the Penguin! Enough said!!

  • mmc

Robin Williams as the Riddler would be great. Some people don’t realize what a versatile actor he is.Comedy , drama anything. He’s so good no matter what part he plays. So many people only think of Jim Carey as the Riddler, but I loved the late and wonderful Frank Gorshen in that role.It was on TV and he was so wacky that you loved to hate him.Lets give Robin a chance…these older actors can teach the young ones so much. You Go Robin!!!!

  • mmc

To poster Matt C…..who are you calling a fossil?Haven’t you ever heard the saying “you’re not getting older ,you’re getting better”?This certainly applies to Robin Williams. These older actors are usually better…most have a great work ethic and they have honed their craft. What do you have against older actors?the world is not only for the young.I’m 67 years old and as I age i get smarter, work better and am so much more reliable than my younger counterparts. So There!!!!!

  • Rob

Robin Williams, ok. I can see. he is a great actor. Edward norton, nooo poor thinking in my opinion. Johnny Depp, great actor but I think the only way he would take this role is for cash, he tends to do more off the beaten things. I think Joaquin Phoneix would be great, such a good actor who doesnt do to much anymore but worth a look. Also, bring in Rutger hauer for some villianous roll.

  • Kevin Little

Joseph Gordon-Levitt would be amazing,he looks the part,is close to the right age and could even pull off the comedic side of the role.Robin would be alright for the role, but he is just a lil old for the part, the comics he was in his late 30′s-early 40′s I think.”One Hour Photo” and “Insomnia” showed he had a dark side,so he could easily pull it off.

  • ANGEL VALDERRAMA JR

ROBIN WILLIAMS: PENGUIN OR KING TUT
    JOHNNY DEPP: RIDDLER
    BEYONCE: CATWOMAN

  • rockrolf

I like Robin Williams. I think he is a great actor.
I do not think he should play The Riddler.

Guy Pearce should play The Riddler. This fits more in line with the way Nolan has approached the series and Pearce is one of the world’s best character actors.

  • wade boteler

Robin as the Joker? Marlon Brando as the Godfather? Duh! He was made for a role like that where improvisation is almost a requirement. The character is zany anyway. And it has nothing to do with taking away from Ledgers amazing performance in Dark Knight…it’s a new role and someone has to fill it. I say Robin Rocks! He’d be great in the moo-vie!

  • Mario

I read all of yourcoments and not even one mentions the fact that it is all about face expresions, Robin Williams
has the lose but under control face,Placed in front of a camera, I’m sure he can make the face of a villan. That’s
what distingushes a good actor from a bad one. Our lives today are filled with stone faced actors that they are there because of a bad producer’s choice or maybe they are prety, tall, handsome, well endowed, even because of unions, you name it. You all want to be judges but you all
    lock the Knowledge.

  • JANET

I THINK HE WOULD MAKE A GREAT JOKER. HE CAN COME UP WITH THE GOODS WHEN NEEDED.I SAY GIVE HIM A CHANCE.

  • stormie

The Final Cut was a great movie but “One Hour Photo” was the creepiest movie I’ve ever seen. The Birdcage was a funny movie, I just saw a repeat of Law and Order and your performance was good. Creepy is what you do best.

  • stormie

I hope you get the role.

  • K-Dawg

David Tennant needs to be The Riddler, if he in fact ends up being the next Batman villain. Have Tennant dye his hair a reddish-brown color, insert his face in the image on the link listed below, and tell me you don’t think he just “looks” the part. Just refer to some of his more manic performances on Doctor Who. He’s got that quirky-brainy look and could definitely rock it.

    bradley cooper as riddler….
