JENNIFER Love Hewitt’s mother is proud she is playing a prostitute in her new film.
The 31-year-old actress stars in TV movie The Client List – which aired on US TV channel Lifetime last night — as a married mother of three who decides to sell her body after she and her husband lose their jobs.
But rather than be shocked by the racy role, Jennifer’s mother Patricia is thrilled her daughter has been brave enough to take on the character of Samantha Horton.
“My mom’s like, ‘I’m so proud. You’re pole dancing and you’re going to play a prostitute. Awesome!’” she said.
“It’s like, ‘Yeah, what you always dreamed about, mama!’ But you know, it’s a great part.”
Jennifer hopes people will reassess their preconceived opinions on why women go into prostitution once they have seen the film.
“Given where we are economically, it’s an interesting story. This is the most recession-proof business there is! It’s really a movie about the human condition, and the heart, and where life can take you,” she said.
“Samantha has no choice at the end of the day but to give everything that she can in order to take care of her family. It just gets out of hand.”
