TAYLOR Swift says her new album is an open letter to her friends and family.

The singer, 20, will release Speak Now in October.

“These songs are made up of words I didn’t say when the moment was right in front of me. These songs are open letters.

“Each is written with a specific person in mind, telling them what I meant to tell them in person.”

Swift has spent two years writing the follow-up to album Fearless and she said it has taken time to get the record right.

“You gotta give yourself time to live a lot of things so you can write about a lot of things,” she said.
