CHRIS TUCKER OWES THE IRS A FORTUNE IN UNPAID TAXES!

Chris TuckerCHRIS Tucker reportedly owes $11.5 million in unpaid taxes.

The actor-and-comedian — who was paid $20 million for each film he starred in for the Rush Hour franchise — is believed to owe the huge sum to the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) after failing to pay taxes in 2001, 2002, 2004, 2005 and 2006.

In addition to the $11.5 million figure, the 37-year-old star is also reportedly in $3.6 million worth of debt to the state of California.

Officials at the IRS have now filed documents with the Los Angeles County Recorder’s Office to launch legal proceedings in the hope of retrieving the unpaid taxes.

Tucker is not the first celebrity to fall foul of the US tax system.

In 2007, Jennifer Lopez’s husband Marc Anthony was ordered to pay $2.5 million in back taxes, after he failed to file returns from 2000 to 2004 — a period when he is believed to have earned $15.5 million.

Similarly, National Treasure actor Nicolas Cage was forced to sell off many of his assets — including properties, yachts and a 67-million-year-old dinosaur skull worth $276,000 — after being hit with a $6.3 million tax bill last year.

Earlier this month, Wesley Snipes lost his appeal against a three-year jail sentence for wilfully failing to file federal income tax returns in April 2008.

    Dude!! If you are making $20 million a picture, you should be able to pay the $11 miilion in taxes. If I can make $57,000 and pay my taxes, surely these movie stars and sports players can pay their taxes. Jeez.

    Everyone that comes into money should hold onto every dime, take a business course, and learn how to manage your own finances instead of hiring accountants and business managers to do it for you. If you were smart enough to get the money, then with proper training, you will be smart enough to manage it. If it were me, my lover, best friend and closet family member would be my laptop/computer.

    Remember accountants are thieves. They are trained to steal, and that’s what they do. You make the money and they steal the money. Never trust an accountant. At the end of the day, you pay for the mismanagement of anyone you hire or allow to do your finances, not the person that mismanaged and stole your money.NEVER trust anyone when it comes down to money, not family, friends, and above all never trust a stranger who was trainied to steal for a living, I don’t care who recommended them. You knew how to count before you had money, and that is a skill that stays with you for life. Keep your trust in GOD not man.

    How can you be that well known, make that much money and not file taxes for 5 years. You would think they would take enough out of the check originally.

    what up chris sad about this stuff but do what you have to do man we all know it is tough on a brother still these days maybe they will give you a break and let you pay back some like they have done with other celebs i don’t believe in one being treated better than the other but i hope you see your way thru this peace stay up with your head and yourself

    i hope the film people can help guide the actors with the tax right when they pay them even take the money out right then so its done
    also its pretty rough to get it like that all in one go
