WHOOPI Goldberg landed herself in hot water for going on TV while high on drugs!

The 55-year-old funnygal appeared on The View on July 19 while under the influence of anti-anxiety medication.

Goldberg popped the pills to get her through a flight from Austria to New York — but they hadn’t worn off by the time she had to go live on air!

“Producers told her while she is a valued member of The View family, she should never show up to work again under the influence. She needs to call in sick,” a source told American tabloid the National Enquirer.

Goldberg, sources say, is so petrified of flying she usually takes a personal bus for U.S. travel and a ship when she has to go to Europe.

But she made an exception and hopped on a jet when she was asked at the last minute to appear as a gust at an AmfAR AIDS concert in Vienna.

“Raising awareness and funding for AIDS research is Whoopi’s mission in life, so as much as she dreaded it she got on a plane,” a source said.

“Her heart was totally in the right place, but she now knows she never should have gone on TV before the effects of the drugs wore off.

“It was shocking that Whoopi decided to show — and even more shocking that producers allowed it. It was total train-wreck television.

“What’s sad is that this just plays into her long-standing fear of flying. I think it will be a long time before she gets on a plane again.”

I think that any one who judges people based on their own opinions need to find something better to do with their time. Whoopi Goldberg is an awesome person and because she has the guption to speak her mind it offends those who do not have the same gall. I also think that the drugs she was on was for anxiety. and that wasbecause she was trying to help a sick nation of people with aids. she got into trouble for the drugs but was still trying to do her job. What is the bg deal Whoopi was at least doing what most would not, she did not calloff of work she still tried to honor her contract but got into trouble anyway. go figure. it is not as big a deal as some try to make it. and again God Bless….

To make this into a HUGE deal just shows how badly the media wants attention and could care less what the truth is, ruining lives is much more important. Whoopi came out on that show and told everyone she was medicated. She was not unappropriate. She was very funny. Whoopi is one of the most common sense, upstanding people I have ever come across. She looks at situations and rarely takes sides unless she needs too. She is has done an amazing job for the View and doesn’t need to be reprimanded for being a bit kooky on air.

This was clearly a mistake from the production of The View. They are the ones who should have made the call to not let her on the air. Some one is trying to wash their hands with a big fuss here and it is not Whoopi.

I saw this episode. She was giggly for two minutes. After that you couldn’t notice anything different at all. People like to make a big deal of nothing. She was fine and is great at her job. Hasselback says wacked out stuff all of the time, noone is asking her to stay home….but not sure why that is.

Good Grief is right!!! I love Whoopi. She has endured hardship in her life and has come out on top. So what, she took a medication for anxiety for fear of flying, and you’re right, if the producers didn’t like it, they shouldn’t have let her go on in the first place then biatch about it afterward. I am one of Whoopi Goldberg’s biggest fans and she can never say or do anything that will ruffle my feathers, but anyway, I hope this incident doesn’t affect her position in any way, shape or form. We all certainly know that Whoopi is petrified of flying on a plane and needs those meds to keep her from loosing it so cut her some slack. The Producers had enough faith in Whoopi to let her on the air so what’s the big deal!We miss her when she’s not the Modulator on the view. If it wasn’t for Whoopi, i wouldn’t have known the tittle of her position because “it’s such a big secret” lol.

Team Whoopi!!!!! F the haters. I saw the broadcast and there was nothing wrong with her. You can take dayquil and be “under the influence” but it doesn’t mean you can’t do your job. If she had shown up falling down drunk or so high on illegal drugs that she couldn’t follow the conversation, then and only then should she be ragged on, PERIOD!! Okay so she messed up one time!it’s not a big deal!Frankly I can understand how she feels-I’m petrified of flying and I also have to take something to relax as well otherwise I’m like a cat in a car if I don’t-I don’t fly well unless I take something to relax. I’m sorry but The take off,The landing, and Air turbulence is sometimes a bit much for people to take and after the business with September 11th-it doesn’t make flying for some people any easier because noone can be trusted anymore,so for some of us flying is a real fear-so I understand where Whoopi is coming from and she misjudged how long it would take for the drug to wear off,been there,done that. Whoopi don’t worry about it and don’t beat up on yourself because of it,stuff happens,it’s not a big deal. You always have an understanding fan here who knows exactly how you feel.

I am and always will be a huge fans of both Whoppi
Goldberg and “The View”. Why is this incident being dug up now, since it happened more than two weeks ago? Some two faced insider at the show probably decided to put her on “BLAST” after the incident with that Salahi couple. They should be glad she was dedicated enough to show up for work after attending her personnal engagements. That could also have been a factor in her decision to fly on an airplane. Anyway, I missed this episode of the show but from what I’ve read, to say it was “total train wreck television” seems a bit harsh. Whoppi is a valuable member of the cast of The View, and many people were happy to see her join. She is allowed to make a mistake like anyone else. These are not recreational drugs we are talking about here, so if the producers of the show were so upset, then they shouldn’t have let her go on the air that day.

Even though it was no laughing matter and may have looked pretty bad and got whoopi in a little trouble,you have to see the humour in it,if everyone remembers correctly in the movie JUMPING JACK FLASH she got a shot of TRUTH SERUM and a little too much and even though it was acting-it was still pretty funny,most especially there’s 3 lines that crack me up, 1 was”oh look at the pretty fish and her mate!” when she saw the punked up looking couple, the other was”There are some funky —ed looking people in New York!” and the last was at the beauty place when she says to the guard”you see this face? this is a face of a woman on the edge”,”now do you wanna live?” So when I think about this situation I just think about that movie and the scenes when she was on the truth serum and thinking-okay yeah it was bad,but it could’ve been worse-she could’ve been like the scenes in Jumping Jack Flash-so be glad she wasn’t and try to see the humour in it.
