DEV Patel is a “scaredy-cat”.

The Slumdog Millionaire actor admits he has many phobias and can’t even be in the same room as a spider.

“I’m not superstitious but I am a scaredy-cat in general,” he said.

“The last time I was frightened was when I saw a massive spider in the bathroom. I had to run out in my towel and scream for my dad.”

The 20-year-old star is in touch with his emotions and is never afraid to let people see him cry, even weeping while watching a movie in public.

“I cry a lot but the last time was watching Brothers, starring Jake Gyllenhaal and Tobey Maguire. I was on a plane with so many people walking around, but I couldn’t help shedding a tear.”

The Last Airbender star — who is dating actress Freida Pinto — insists he is a patient person, but hates selfishness.

“Nothing makes me physically angry but what does tick me off a little is people being selfish. I don’t like that,” he said.
