Jennifer Aniston: ‘Women Don’t Need a Man to Have a Child’

Jennifer AnistonJENNIFER Aniston insists women “don’t have to” have a man if their life just to have a child.

In her new film The Switch, the former Friends actress — who’s divorced from Brad Pitt — plays a woman who decides to get pregnant with a “turkey baster”.

During a press conference at the Four Seasons Hotel in Beverly Hills on Sunday, Aniston, 41, defended her character’s leap into single motherhood by using a sperm donor.

“Women are realizing it more and more knowing that they don’t have to settle with a man just to have that child,” she said.

“Times have changed and that is also what is amazing is that we do have so many options these days, as opposed to our parents’ days when you can’t have children because you have waited too long.”

“The point of the movie is what is it that defines family? It isn’t necessarily the traditional mother, father, two children and a dog named Spot,” she adds. “Love is love and family is what is around you and who is in your immediate sphere. That is what I love about this movie. It is saying it is not the traditional sort of stereotype of what we have been taught as a society of what family is.”

Recent reports claimed Jen’s pal Sheryl Crow – who has two adopted sons — had inspired her to adopt a baby.

“Jen sees how happy Wyatt and now Levi make Sheryl,” a source told American tabloid the National Enquirer. “And Sheryl has told Jen, ‘Don’t wait for a man to make a family!’”

    having a child through artificial insemination by far is the best option for some…but,its not everybody’s choice..you STILL need a man…its so sad that you and Brad got separated….you should envy Jolie, she has a man and lots of babies…you just have to get married to the right man…

    I think she thought she had the right guy but it seems like he wasn’t the right guy. I’d be very surprised to see Brad and Jolie last more than a couple more years.

    This is not the answer just because she can not get along with the opposite sex for an exteneded period of time. The problem nowadays is there is too much single moms out there now. This is not the answer. I guess I am traditional. Maybe Jen should just stick to falling in love with her turkey baster.

      you dont always have to be married or have a man in their life to have a family. things dont work out as planed and you just have to go with the second choice and she went with it so what if she wants to be a single mom but in the future she could find the right man and he could adopt the child as his own.. so who ever is talking smack maybe your just angry your not her, get over it its not your life its hers, so stay out of it..

        Who the hell is getting in her stupid life, she is the one smacking every women alive, with her stupid comment, “I don’t need a man to have a child,” ok so what you may not need a man to have a child so why does the movie seem as usual a rom-com if you don’t need a man to has a baby, then you don’t need a man to fuck, so why the romanic seens, jennifer stop slapping women who love their men and love to has children from them and be happy the natural way, your stupid comment make me dislike your movies more and more and I am not seeing this one because I has a man I love and will be very happy to has a baby by him and get fat, its all for love!

    what is wrong with jen i mean her comment shows to me that she is so fustrated about life not getting the right partner.And i dont believe she is over brad pitt,jane angelina is more smarter than you she knows what she wants and she goes for it.follow the footstep of your friend courtney cox get a man have your baby,jane be a mom a wife.ok you are greek for Gods sake.its nasty for you to want to follow the steps of sheril crow.

    Apparently all fathers and marriages are perfect so having a child with a man is always perfect. Yes, we live in a world of perfection. Sometimes having the child with a man in a stable relationship isn’t an available choice. If the single mom is in a position to be able to support that child, especially if she can do it without working multiple jobs and can spend a great deal of time with that child, all the more power to her. Men are absolutely important, but children can have uncles, grandpas, their mom’s male platonic friends, their sports coaches, boy scout leaders, etc. that give them lots of sources of adult male role models. Is having a child with 2 loving parents who have a loving stable marriage the ideal? Yes, but why punish single moms who didn’t have that ideal as an option. Some openness and compassion would be in order.

    You don’t need a man to have and raise a baby, just money, preferably about $20million/year give or take a mil. And the best way to get that is to make lots of movies about a woman trying to find the perfect man.

    how stupid of her to say you don’t need a man to have a child, ok that is true but OMG, this women is still hurting, she still can’t shake the break up of her marriage to Brad, you know she seem to have so much regret, all her movies are base on finding love, family, having babies, everything that Angelina and Brad have, she try to throw at them, I would like to see her play a part where she is something different anything these movie choice are so bad, and i saw the trailer, and she is so self centered the way she looks and say it, I don’t need a man to has a child, I guess she has no choice, to the matter.

    Jennifer right here is yet another indication of why American women, especially arrogant bimbos like her (no wonder she couldn’t hold onto Brad), will be the end of western civilization as we know it. Just in case Jen hasn’t figured it out yet..all we need is a little scientific advancement like an artificial womb (of the outside the body variety) and after collecting sufficient number of eggs we men will be able to say we don’t need women and who knows..maybe we could do the human race a favor and just get rid of them once and for all.

    I think the statement that woman don’t need men to have children is the biggest man hating statement I have ever heard. If a man said anything even remotely close to that he would be crucified. I’m sick of men getting degraded and reduced to sperm donor by bitter woman who can’t keep a man because of their own shortcomings so they project their hatred on to their children and all men that they encounter. There are men out there for their children and statements like that show just how underapprecitated men are in society and I a man that is sick of being the woman’s punching bag. I’m sick of being called useless, stupid-woman swearing we are worthless!!! It’s disgusting and if I ever said anything like that every feminist on the planet would ascend to hang me by my toenails. I understand woman in the past have been persecuted extremely in the past but it now appears that extreme is now portrayed in the hatred for men that is now displayed openly by almost every woman I know. The woman I know regularly insult and downgrade men, and it’s ok and accepted as standard practice. If I said half the evil things my female counter parts have said I’d be a woman hater. That is a man hating statement and bill o reilly is absolutely right and I can’t stand him, but he hit this one on the head.
