VAN HALEN TEAM UP WITH DAVID LEE ROTH FOR COMEBACK ALBUM!

Van HalenROCKERS Van Halen are recording a new album with David Lee Roth — twenty-six years after they last recorded together.

The group have reunited with their original singer to work on their first album in more than a decade. The record is expected to hit stores next year.

Although the band have not announced the news themselves, their publishing company let the news slip in a recent press release, according to Britain’s Guardian.

“The group is currently in the studio recording an album with Roth that is due for release in 2011,” said Warner/Chappell Music.

Roth was Van Halen’s original vocalist, performing on early hits such as Eruption and Dance the Night Away, through to their 1984 album 1984. They parted ways in 1985.

Despite Roth’s return, there is no indication that Van Halen have reunited with founding bassist Michael Anthony. Eddie Van Halen‘s son, Wolfgang, played bass at the band’s most recent gigs.

Van Halen’s last album was 1998′s Van Halen III.

    Eruption was a guitar solo with momentary drum layer. Eddie and Alex are the only performers on that track. Hence…David Lee Roth did not perform on that one. Please know your subject before you submit to the masses.

    Josh, you beat me to it. Out of ALL the hits they had, they pick an instrumental and the bubblegum popl “Dance the Rock Away”. To be fair and clear, Michael Anthony does get a few bass notes on the intro!

    What a shit article. Aside from what’s already been pointed out, that Eruption is a guitar solo with no vocals and Dance… is a shit song no VH fans with dicks like, it has not been 26 years since they recorded together. DLR recorded some tracks with the VH boys for a one-off engagement for a Best Of release that included a couple new tracks.

    I don’t even like VH that much (although VH with DLR is tits compared to Van Hagar) and I’m not a journalist, so if I know it, the douche who wrote this garbage piece should know it.

    Man I really hate when journalists create articles before researching the topic. This makes me sick not only as an avid Van Halen fan, but also as a tenured reporter. On the other hand I am very excited to hear about the reunion.
