KENNY CHESNEY: ‘MARRIAGE TO ZELLWEGER WAS LIKE SPORTING INJURY’

Kenny ChesneyKENNY Chesney thinks his failed marriage to Renee Zellweger was like getting injured at sport.

The country singer — whose four-month-long marriage to the actress was annulled in 2005 — admits he dealt with their separation the same way he would if he got “knocked down” during an American football game.

“There ain’t nothing you can do about it,” he said. “Just hang on for the ride. Now I look back on it as just another way of getting knocked down on the football field.”

Despite their split, Kenny is adamant it hasn’t put him off the idea of getting married again and starting a family one day.

“Not at all. I hope that’s in the cards for me one day,” he said. “I hope I have kids one day. But I don’t wake up every day and miss that in my life.”

Kenny’s relaxed attitude to relationships comes from his mother Karen.

“She was dating someone once and broke up,” he explained. “And this stayed with me. She said, ‘Kenny, I just want you to know I’d rather be miserable alone than miserable with somebody else.’ That makes a lot of sense to me.”

However, the 42-year-old star — who is currently single — is wary about dating someone new.

“The world is a different place now,” he said.

“I mean, if I go out with a girl, there is a possibility that she’s going to get up from the dinner table and go to the bathroom and use Twitter to tell everybody what she’s doing. And the next thing you know, everybody’s got a play-by-play of what you’re having for dinner. That would make anybody uncomfortable.”

      Who cares if he is gay or not! You people act like your married to him. My philosophy is this: If your not his mom, his girlfriend or his wife then shut the heck up. None of you out there are paying his bills, sleeping next to him, having his chilldren or having sex with the man, so until you are doing at least one of the above, then mabey, just mabey, you might have a say,a voice or viewpoint in the matters of Kenny’s life. And so,all you you haters and little people (not midgets) and you nosey noses too,until then,to all of you, shut the heck up, leave the man alone to muse and ponder his comings and goings……….alone.

      Not delusional, just sheltered, naive. Anyone with a little experience, or lives in an urban area, would spot Kenny in a New York minute. That he could be mistaken for straight- especially by Zellwegger- is not funny, but sad.

    I like Kenny, but he really does need to be honest. I guess I can understand with the country music community being the way they are. Can you name one single male country artist who is gay? No? Why not? Because none are gay….no….it’s because none ever had the courage to admit it. Sad. Some things to thing about: Kenny has a place in Key West (hello – huge gay community there); he did a “Keg in the Closet” tour and album (trying to hint?); was cited as a “fraud” by Renee. I went through an annulment and believe me, there are plenty of other reasons to have a marriage annulled, including immaturity, one spouse not wanting children, etc. I wish he would one day come out and be honest and maybe he will have inner peace when he does.

    Kenny may be one of those gay men who get off on staying in the closet and keep people guessing. Maybe he likes both men and women. Does it matter if he is as good as the country world thinks the music should stand on its own. At least he should be honest to himself but he may be afraid of losing his family as many gays do, which is so stupid. Love of a child is unconditional gay or not.

    Kenny’s probably bi-sexual and maybe prefers guys for sex and women for companship. Trust me, a lot of guys do cause I’m one of them. It would be unusual for a 100% heterosexual 43yr old male to not be married or in a serious relationship with children. I sure would be his boyfriend/male lover.

    I really think he is gay.  He is never seen dating anyone in the media, and the whole ‘fraud’ in the divorce settlement make me think she found this out after they married somehow (since she didn’t have much time to get to know him).  Look at how many people in country music are openly gay….maybe 2?  What are the odds that only 2 people in this genre are gay?  Please.  I just think it’s sad that people still can’t truly be who they are in every corner of this country/world no matter what music you like/play or what you do for a living or where you live.  Remember Chely Wright?  She didn’t seem to have a lot of support when she came out, in fact nobody really said anything…it was like they just avoided her and the very topic as much as possible….and we don’t see her creating country music anymore either.

      HE IS NOT GAY. I would like to see you marry somebody as one of the most famous country singers ever and not have troubles in your marriage. If you really knew kenny you would know that he likes to drink and write music personally. Marriage is the other way around and he just wasn’t ready to turn his life around. I think its pathetic how girls say they want a sweet down to earth guy, but when they find one everybody says hes gay. And kenny definitely still makes music and isn’t letting stupid rumors get to him like you just ASSUMING he is gay
