MARY-Louise Parker finds it ironic that she is now perceived as a sex symbol..

The Weeds star says she was “crippled by my awkwardness” during her younger years — and no one wanted to date her in high school!

“I never had a date in high school, not one,” she said.

But when she arrived at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts at 17,  Mary-Louise became an overnight success!

“Every boy wanted to date me,” she said.

“It’s because I was at school with a bunch of artists, a bunch of freaks. It was OK to be what I was. Knowing this made me come out of myself.”

Parker recently revealed that her role on Weeds – in which she plays Nancy Botwin, a newly widowed suburbanite mother of two, who has turned to selling marijuana to support her family after her husband unexpectedly dies — has taught her how to turn cannabis into cupcakes and lollipops!

“That you can make marijuana into cupcakes and lollipops,” she said.

“I’ve always been a darker person, a little Wednesday Addams girl.”
