JAMES Cameron has a “wish list” for the Avatar sequel.

The acclaimed director — who spent years perfecting the sci-fi epic — admits he’s disappointed with the way certain things looked in the movie, and is already working on improving his technology for the second flick.

“We’re working on that wish list right now,” he told MTV. “We’re working on how to improve the system. One thing we’re working on is the camera system’s inability to cast shadows.

“As you give it inputs, it reacts immediately, but the level of reality isn’t very high. For example, the characters don’t cast shadows on the ground, and sometimes shadows are a very important part of a scene; you compose the shot to the shadow.

“Next time, we’re going to have shadows, interactive volumetric lighting, all the kinds of things we didn’t have on Avatar.”

There is currently no release date for Avatar 2.

Cameron recently revealed how he turned down the chance to direct another Terminator movie so he could bring back Titanic.

“I’ve moved on from everything that’s already been done,” he said.

“The only thing to me that has any kind of franchise life to it at this point is Avatar. With Titanic we are going back and doing it in 3D, which is a little bit of a creative revision of history. We’re not going to add anything to it, its just going to be exactly the cut but it’ll be in 3D so it will be a different experience.

“But the other stuff I don’t feel the need. I had a choice when I was finishing Titanic to do another Terminator film and it just didn’t feel right. So I’ve moved on from that.”
