MICHAEL DOUGLAS’ EX-WIFE URGED TO STOP BEING SO GREEDY AND MOVE ON!

MICHAEL Douglas’ ex-wife was blasted in court Tuesday.

The actor’s lawyers hit out at Diandra Douglas — who divorced the 65-year-old star in 2000 — over her demands for 40 per cent of the money he earned from forthcoming movie Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps.

Marilyn B Chinitz, Michael’s lawyer, told a judge in a New York court, “It’s enough. It’s time for Ms. Douglas to move on and let Mr. Douglas move on and enjoy his life without having to concern himself with someone trying to claw back moneys that they’re not entitled to.”

After the couple divorced, they agreed a settlement which allowed Diandra to receive a share of the money he made from his movies while they were together — so far earning her $6.3 million — but she claims that she should receive money from Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps as it revives the character Gordon Gecko, who Michael played in 1987.

Diandra’s lawyer Nancy Cemtob believes his former wife of 23 years is entitled to the money because of the agreement he signed.

“My client is not greedy,” she said. “The exact opposite is true. Mr Douglas is seeking to shirk his financial responsibility that was entered into when he signed this contract.”

Neither Michael — who is now married to Welsh actress Catherine Zeta-Jones — or Diandra were present at the court.

The judge has not set a date for a ruling in the case.

Earlier this month Michael was diagnosed with a tumor in his throat, and is to undergo eight weeks of chemotherapy and radiotherapy treatment.

I have enjoyed Michael’s work ever since he did the TV show “Streets of San Francisco”. None of us really know WHY he divorced his ex-wife…except that Catherine is most mens’ dream woman. One thing is for sure, we only have this life to make the most of, and no one lives Michael’s life but him.
My main interest is WHY his ex-wife is trying to gain proceeds from a film made AFTER the divorce. That’s not what he agreed to. She still continues to get money from all the other great films he has done. Honestly, I think the judge is going to tell his ex to go blow smoke, because she doesn’t legally have a leg to stand on. If the film was on the table during the divorce, maybe, but that doesn’t seem to be the case.
It’s always sad to see couples, that have devoted so much time to each other, part on bad terms. Chances are, Michael will never have that kind of time with his current wife, and there is something to be said for sticking it out with a lifelong partner. However, Catherine seems to be very devoted to Michael, and I think he is a lucky guy as far as that is concerned.
When people get used to living on large sums of money, they sometimes lose perspective about what’s important. Michael’s ex obviously is still bitter about the divorce. She needs to take some of that huge amount of money and put it to good use…like going to therapy, and perhaps starting an outreach center for those less fortunate than herself. Seeing others struggle on much less would help her gain perspective on what’s important in life, as she obviously has not learned that lesson yet.

Where is my rich fool? I am so tired of hearing and reading about how easy some women have gotten millions and billions that they did not work a day to earn.
