Blake Lively: ‘I Wanna Take Risks With my Career’

BLAKE Lively has no intentions of playing it safe.
The Gossip Girl actress says she wants to take risks with her career.
“I’m on a very commercial show, so the last thing I want to do is a commercial movie,” she said.
“I wanna take risks, I don’t wanna play it safe. I mean, I could probably make more money if I did more commercial projects. It would be nice to buy an apartment but I’m 22 and I don’t need to yet.
“I live in New York City. So, I’m able to differentiate between what I want and need and what I want more is to do great roles.
“We have six-year contracts but who knows how long TV shows ever run.
“They don’t always go the full season contracted… We’re in season four.”
Lively recently revealed her thoughts that men are given better opportunities than women in the film industry.
“People always ask me whose career I admire and I always answer with men. Which is not to say that there aren’t incredible women in this business, but I feel like men are still given much better opportunities,” she said.
“I feel like there are so many people I admire for so many reasons that I can’t look at one person’s life and say, ‘I want that life.’ I want to make my own history.
“I look at anything in life like as long as you do what you believe in, then it’s going to work out. Because even if other people don’t like what you’re doing, you’re happy because you did what you believed in.”
