David Archuleta Stands up to Cancer!

DAVID Archuleta – the cute one from season seven of American Idol — attended the 2010 Stand Up to Cancer Benefit in Culver City, CA, Friday night.

Meanwhile, the teen superstar says one of the songs on his upcoming album – Elevator – was inspired by a dream he had recently.

“In my dream there’s a huge building with all these different floors and elevators going to different places, and I didn’t know which floor to get off at,” he told The Commercial AppeaL newspaper. “The song is just reflective of life. How there’s so many different decisions, so many different things that can happen to you in your life. They may not always make sense, and it can be really confusing at times. But it’s an endless ride. Sometimes it takes you up. Sometimes it takes you down. But it’s the butterflies that keeping you feeling so alive.”

“It all happened a lot faster that I imagined it,” he said of his sudden music career. “I thought I would have a year to figure out what I was going do and then opportunities would maybe start coming. But it was just like boom, boom, boom, didn’t stop. I had to learn a lot faster. I felt like I was trying to hang onto something that was moving a lot quicker than I was able to keep up with. But it pushed me past my boundaries — what I thought were my boundaries — and I learned a lot..”

    David may have pushed himself past what he thought were his boundaries, but his example has inspired his fans to do the same. He has become an example to people of all ages, all religions, ethnic backgrounds and all walks of life. Just look at how much money they have raised for SU2C. ( 66,000. since 2008, and $16,000 in just a short campaign this summer). This is just one of the charities that David supports. His fans have raised thousands and thousands of dollars for his other charities as well.

    I am so excited to know that his heart and soul will be reflected in his new CD coming out on Oct 5th. It is called “The Other Side of Down”. David co- wrote 10 of the 12 songs on the new album, and from the songs we have heard thus far it will be just amazing! Don’t miss it!!

    Congratulations to David Archuleta and his “Go Getters” for rallying together to support this cause. It’s always wonderful to see an artist who uses their “celebrity” to bring awareness to charities such as this, especially someone of his age. He is a wonderful role model.
