SOFIA COPPOLA WANTED TO DIRECT BREAKING DAWN!

Sofia CoppolaSOFIA Coppola wanted to direct The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn.

The Lost In Translation director has revealed she held talks with movie bosses about working on the project — which will be the split into the final two movies in the vampire franchise — but it didn’t happen, despite her keenness.

“I talked to them about that. I was interested in doing something but I didn’t end up doing it,” she said.

“But I love… I’m impressed by Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson pulling it off in that whole story.

“And my friend’s kids love the story so much that I thought it would be fun to make something they love so much.

“I just love that it’s so romantic. I’m always a sucker for a love story and also to do something for teenagers, because I feel like, why not have beautiful cinematography and all these things in a kid’s movie?

“Usually it looks like it’s not crafted very sophisticated, and I feel like it’d be nice to bring the kind of style into a younger film.”

Coppola — whose new movie, Somewhere, tells the story of a movie star who comes to see the emptiness of his existence through the eyes of his 11-year-old daughter — recently admitted she doesn’t like reality TV.

“I haven’t watched tons of it,” she said. “Kind of a little here and there, but it just seems when you look at these tabloids, they’re all reality TV stars and definitely a focus on celebrity culture more than ever.

“But I’ve seen a few. The twins in my movie are from The Girls Next Door. So we do have some reality TV stars in it.”

I just hope that these final films turn out to be the best ones. I hope they don’t disappoint the fans who are eagerly awaiting the scenes they read in the book BD to be accurate and verbatim. The honeymoon beach scene, and afterwards, the birthing scene, etc. is what made Bd the book to read. Even the final confrontation scene with the Volturi can be magnificent if they put some time into it.
