RICKI LAKE COUNTING HER BLESSINGS AFTER HER HOUSE BURNS DOWN!

Ricki LakeRICKI Lake feels “gratitude and blessings” after she and her family managed to escape a house fire this weekend.

The TV host, her two sons, Milo, 13, and Owen, nine, and their dog managed to escape the blaze unharmed, but their rented wooden beachfront home in Malibu and everything inside were lost.

“Ricki is very grateful that her family was unharmed,” Lake’s rep told People magazine.

“The fire happened very quickly and it was indeed a frightening experience. Right now she feels gratitude and blessings.

“She urges everyone to get smoke detectors and fire extinguishers.”

The fire is believed to have started after Ricki tried to refill a portable heater in the rented home, resulting in the sofa catching alight.

“It appears that a couch caught fire and that set the whole house ablaze,” said Lieutenant Rich Erickson of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

Ricki, 41, and her family were standing outside the property when fire-fighters arrived to quell the flames, but unfortunately they were too late to save anything.

The fire crew also had to cut into the gates of Ricki’s neighbors to prevent the blaze from spreading.

    A fire is tragic no matter whose home it is, celebrity or not. A fire happens so quickly that you don’t have time to collect anything important especially pocessions that can’t be replaced like photos. I agree with Ricki, people need to have safety items to alert or assist in putting out a fire before it spreads too far out of control.

    I hope Ricki’s landlord had language in her lease that if she starts a fire due to negligence (which this obviously was, I’ve never heard of anyone who followed manufacturer’s instructions setting a fire from filling a portable heater). Just goes to show you, doesnt matter how rich your tenant is, they can still be stupid and burn your house down.

      I disagree with Jeff!!!!! Ricki’s house that she was renting just burned down she didn’t do it on purpose!!! what if your house burned down from cooking on the grill does that mean your stupid and you don’t know how to cook???? what about electrial fire does it mean you should of checked all the stuff before going to bed or leaving your house?
      People need to think before writing or speaking and have passion when things like this happen. It was accident!!!!!!
      Thank god Ricki, and her sons are alive.

        I agree with you. People can be so insensitive. Thank God her and her childrens life were spared. That shows the menatallity of the people we come in contact with on a daily basis. MISERABLE!!!

    My neighbors house burned a few weeks ago due to her air conditioner. She lost everything as well, although everyone was able to get out okay. The fire distinguishers and detectors are so valuable and can save a life too! I am glad to read to everyone including her dog was able to escape – something that cannot be replaced; the items in the fire can.

    I agree with Jeff! How stupid of her to try and refill a portable heater inside of the house! She should have taken the portable heater outside and then refilled it outside where it belongs! The Dumbass Stupid Bitch! What a fucking moron!

    Whether or not what she did was stupid,my prayers go out to her and her family.It was by the grace of God that they all survived,so those of you who are bashing her need to keep that in mind if you happen to end up in a similar situation.Aside from that,Ricki Lake has always been a classy person and unlike so many other celebs is not arrogant and self-absorbed.

    Hi folks, – stumbled on this internet site by accident whilst looking around the net this afternoon, and pleased that I did! I do like the page structure and colours, but I have to point out that I’m having difficulty when it loads. I’m using WaMCom 1.1 browser for mac, and the menu fails to line up the right way. i’m pretty sure I have used the equivalent layout on a customer’s internet site, but the menu seems O.k on mine. I have an idea the fault is with my outdated browser and I guess it is time to swap!
