Jerry Lew Lewis ROCKER Jerry Lee Lewis isn’t happy about getting older!

The music legend turns 75 today — September 29 — and is wishing he could turn back the clock.

Asked by the USA Today newspaper how he plans to celebrate his big day, Lewis said, “Drunk!”

“No, I don’t even drink,” he added.

“Don’t smoke. My life is as clean as it can be. I’d rather be turning 73, but there’s nothing I can do about that.

“I could have retired a long time ago. I keep rockin’!”

“I had my wild times,” he added. “It was fun. I didn’t do anything to break the law, but I’ve done some crazy things.”

Jerry Lee Lewis is talented,unlike so many modern performers.However,I take exception to two comments he makes here.First of all,getting older is something that we all must accept because the sad truth is we cannot turn back the clock.Second,as far as him saying he never did anything to break the law… what about marrying his thirteen-year old cousin?

regarding the legal or illegal status of Jerry marrying his 13 cousin: It depends on the state and if he had consent and the laws on the books in the 50s. It was likely legal.
New Hampshire: A female between the age of 13 and 17 years and a male between the age of 14 and 17 years can be married only with the permission of their parent (guardian) and a waiver. A female below the age of 13 and a male below the age of 14 are not allowed to marry under any conditions. If both parties are nonresidents of NH and are below the age of 18 they cannot be married in NH under any conditions. AND South Carolina: If you are under 18, you will need a certified copy of your birth certificate and a notarized statement of parental consent. The minimum age for a female is 14 and it is 16 for a male. BOTH are current laws. NOW go back to the laws of the 50s and see what was legal then. NOT TO MENTION: in the 1800s if a woman was not married by 18, she was considered an old maid that would be single for life. * This is not intended to encourage teenage marriages; just to serve as evidence that Jerry’s marriage was likely legal at the time.

It was a huge scandal when he married his 13 year old cousin. It was the major reason for his decline in popularity. And the 1950′s were not that long ago.
Pedaphila was frowned on then as it is now. Though talented, he was a child molester. He is just like R Kelly and Michael Jackson. He likes children- and his talent and celebrity does not change that.

being a scandal does not make it illegal. To be a child molester, one must be forcing him/her self on the minor. This was not the case when Jerry married her and there marriage lasted 13 years.

I am from Memphis. A friend of mine, Bobby Allison, who played drums for Jerry Lee said Jerry used to get drunk and go set in front of Graceland, Elvis’ house and shoot his 22 rifle at the house because Jerry was so jealous of Elvis. I am also told that the reason that Elvis’ body was moved from the cemetary to Graceland because the word on the street was Jerry Lee was going to steal the body.
