Bruce WillisBRUCE Willis is concerned he may be replaced in the ‘Die Hard’ franchise.

The 55-year-old actor — who is currently filming his fifth film playing action hero John McClane — admitted that while he thinks his job is safe at the moment, he will be hanging up his character’s white vest after Die Hard 6 to avoid being replaced.

“In the next few years they could easily find a replacement for me or call the character someone else,” he said.

“But for me, I want to do Die Hard 5, then one final Die Hard movie — Die Hard 6 — before finally hanging that white vest up for good.

“At the moment, I can run and I can fight on screen. But there will come a time when I no longer want to do that. That’s when I’ll step away from the Die Hard films.”

The actor also revealed he came up with his one of his character’s key lines after he had a disagreement with the film’s producers.

“Take the first Die Hard, I was the one who came up with the line, ‘Yippee ki-yay motherf****r!’ The producers were trying to give me their take on how I should say a certain line at that point in the movie, and I disagreed,” he said.

“So they said, ‘You do it’. So I did. Yippee ki-yay was some goofy thing that cowboys used to say in those movies, so I added the ‘motherf****r’ bit as I thought it was a nice, contrasting combination of the two images. And it worked. That expression’s really stuck around, that’s for sure.”

Willis recently insisted he “won’t retire” from Hollywood.

“I never thought of acting as work, and I don’t look at what I do as work so I won’t retire,” he said.

“There are a lot of people who do work hard, and have really difficult jobs — whether it’s digging holes in the ground or carrying cinder blocks up a hundred foot ladder up to a roof — that is something that feels like work to me.

“I just worked with Ernest Borgnine on Red and it was a blast. He’s incredible, and sharp. He’s awesome. Thank god we didn’t have any fight scenes with him, because he would’ve kicked our asses! And than have gone, ‘ Alright who’s next!’ But he really is unbelievable and he’s 93-years old.”[imagebrowser id=418]

Take time to actually READ the article, and maybe you won’t make such a dumb comment.

Don’t you ever talk smack about Bruce Willis he is a close friend of Chuck Norris who will run around the world and punch you in the back of the head!!! But seriously don’t talk smack about Bruce

  • Beverly Hill

Trying to replace John McClane is like putting Jeff Bridges in as Rooster Cogburn. It’s not going to work for we are accustomed to the ones that play their characters and don’t want to see someone else. Look at all the TV shows they have tried to remake and they were a disaster. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it

There is a huge difference between someone being replaced in a film and finding someone to do a remake fifty years later. You cannot make a comparison like that. Jeff Bridges is a great actor and I think he would do a good job filling the role of Rooster Cogburn.

Now if Someone decides to do a remake of Die Hard in 50 years, I really dont think anyone wants to see a 100+ year old Willis running around killing bad guys. That wouldnt work well with audiences!

@Beverly do you know that when they were making the first Die Hard they were thinking of using Charles Grodin (Yes the goofy dad off Beethoven) for the role of John McClane?

Red was great ! I can’t see him (Bruce) having to slow down in the near future. As for Ernest Borgnine – 93-years-old??! What an amazing guy! I loved seeing him in this movie and hope to see him in future movies. I think that is awesome! Here’s hoping Bruce is around for another 38 years at least!

  • Paul

He has made a career and millions with limited talent or presence.

Apple now has Rhapsody as an app, which is a great start, but it is currently hampered by the inability to store locally on your iPod, and has a dismal 64kbps bit rate. If this changes, then it will somewhat negate this advantage for the Zune, but the 10 songs per month will still be a big plus in Zune Pass’ favor.
