MARIAH Carey has finally confirmed the world’s worst kept secret — she’s pregnant!

The superstar singer — who’s married to actor/rapper Nick Cannon — confirmed the news on the Today show Thursday morning as part of a sneak peek at a three-part Access Hollywood interview.

“Yes, we are pregnant. This is true,” she said.

“It’s been a long journey. It’s been tough because I’ve been trying to hold on to a shred of privacy.”

Carey revealed that she miscarried after she Cannon wed in 2008.

“It kind of shook us both and took us into a place that was really dark and difficult,” she said. “When that happened… I wasn’t able to even talk to anybody about it. That was not easy.”

Previous reports claimed Carey is four months into her pregnancy and expecting a boy.

“She’s having a boy, but the reason that Mariah didn’t want to say anything is because she is 40, and she’s superstitious,” a source said.

“They haven’t decided whether they’ll raise the baby in New York or Los Angeles.

“The fertility drugs were the reason for her weight gain earlier this year.

“She stopped drinking back in March or April this year.”

Cannon has previously revealed that he and Carey are keen to start a family.

“We absolutely plan to have a family,” he told MTV earlier this year. “But we gotta prioritize, because that’s a major, major priority.

“That’s like the only priority in life, when you think about it, is starting and raising a family. We want to make sure everything is out of the way and that we don’t have any distractions.

“She’s on tour right now, I’m doing a bunch of stuff, so eventually we want to be able to say it’s time to have a kid, and set everything up.

“But we’re definitely moving toward.”

Back in 2008, Mariah confessed she’s terrified of mothered.

“I really would have to be very, very positive that I was in a place where I could completely focus and put everything into the job of being someone’s mommy because it’s hard enough to have a puppy,” she said.
