Paula Abdul: ‘American Idol Will be Fine Without Simon Cowell’

PAULA Abdul reckons American Idol will do just fine without Simon Cowell.
The former singer — who quit the TV talent show in 2009 after seven years as a judge — is adamant Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler are perfect replacements for the music mogul and Kara DioGuardi.
“I think that they picked seasoned veterans that… come from being no strangers to hard work and dedication and understand that this isn’t a ‘me too’ business,” she said. “It’s not about being ‘me too’.
“It’s about really standing out on your own and being unique. And you know, if they have half of the amazing experience that I had then they’re golden.
Abdul also refused to divulge if she would be joining Cowell on the US version of The X Factor.
“Inquiring minds want to know,” she said. “We’ll just have to see, won’t we?”
Abdul recently admitted she’s “speechless” that people want to see her return to Idol.
“I’m very grateful,” she said. “I have tremendous gratitude that people want to see me on television and that people miss me on Idol. That leaves me speechless. It really does.
“I’ll always be a fan of the show. I had an amazing time. To be part of something from the very beginning that grew into such a worldwide phenomenon is really awe-inspiring. It’s going to go down in history. It’s always wonderful to be part of something that’s larger than you could have ever imagined. People grow with time and you can always expect change. I’m forever a fan of the show and I’ll always watch.”
