Zach Galifianakis and Robert Downey Jr. Feuding Over Mel Gibson

Posted by Adam

THERE’s a new feud in Hollywood — between actors Zach Galifianakis and Robert Downey Jr., according to a new report.Robert Downey Jr. and Zach

E! News says Zach — who stars alongside Robert in new movie Due Date — has riled the Iron Man hunk for getting Mel Gibson fired from The Hangover 2.

Mel — who has faced a string of personal problems over the past few weeks — had signed on to play a tattoo artist in the eagerly awaited movie sequel, which stars Galifianakis, Bradley Cooper and Justin Bartha among others.

Robert — who told Parade magazine it was Mel who taught him about second chances, casting Downey in Singing Detectives, his first flick fresh from jail — was instrumental in convincing Hangover director Todd Phillips to give Gibson a role.

According to E! News:

After director Todd Phillips’ failed to bring Gibson on for The Hangover 2, we’re hearing RDJ wasn’t too thrilled with his Due Date costar Zach Galifianakis.

Here’s why:

Robert has told Parade magazine it was Mel who taught him about second chances, casting Downey in Singing Detectives, his first flick fresh from jail, even though an insurance company wouldn’t cover it.

So, RDJ thought it was time to return the favor.

He has the same rep as Gibson, and obviously got close with Todd during the filming of their hilar flick Due Date, and was very involved in getting Mel’s name into the mix.

But the entire Hangover cast was über-pissed when Phillips sprang the Gibson cameo on them. So ticked off, that sources on the way secretive Hangover set confirm there were a lot of threats made by the stars of the sequel if Mel came onboard, with Zach on the front lines (can ya blame him?).

Apparently, tensions have been running high between Zach and Robert during the promotion of Due Date.

(Reps for both RDJ and Z.G. declined to comment.)

We’re told from knowledgeable sources that Downey thought Mel really deserved another chance—and that he’s subsequently been “pissy” with Zach, since he had a big part in getting Gibson axed.

The two did pose together at the end of the carpet at the Due Date premiere in L.A. last night after being asked, but they weren’t exactly as buddy-buddy as usual.

Todd skipped most press because he didn’t want to answer Mel questions, which was a big topic of convo on the carpet.

Ken Jeong said he wasn’t allowed to say anything about Gibson-gate, while RDJ still defend him when asked.

And they say women are gossips and bitch about everything…hmmmmm…interesting NOT. Who fucking cares anyway. Mels a big boy if he can beat women and babies he can defend his self alone.

good on him for sticking up for mel,,and ha didnt beat his child, where is the proof of anything,,recordings that that which oksana taped,,she is the child beater, putting her kid up their as a pawn in her game to screw mel of his money ans reputaton,,she is not a mother,,the energy she is using to screw mel, should be put into being a mother,,useless person,

Yeah, I mean recordings schmordings. We all have had our yelling rants. Everyone of us. She just taped one. There has been no evidence that Mel knocked her teeth out (per dentist) that he hit his child. The investigation has gone nowhere. She was nothing more than a golddigger whom tried desperately to taint his reputation to get money from him. But Im sorry as a fan of Mel’s where is the hard evidence, not some stupid audio tape were he rants…I have had my rants. I threaten to do all sorts of things, do I do it? NO. We shall not judge period.

Oksana set Mel up. Sure wish the celebrities would direct their energies into art not politics;keep the politics out of art people. Always liked Robert Downey Jr. Don’t even know who this Zac Galifianakis is anyhow, don’t recall seeing him in cinema and don’t care. He should keep his mouth shut until all the facts become known in the Mel Gibson case.

You go RDJ!!! Show the rest of HW what real class is — it is to not judge personal trials! And previous commentor is right —- Gagmefatboy’s ego quickly getting bigger than he is! Deep in our hearts, we all know that it is not right to kick a person when they are down. I am appalled by all of the media “vultures” who openly dis Mel — saying things like “let’s all spit on him next time we see him”. Well, people are really showing themselves, and RDJ, you can be proud of what you are showing!

  • Clare

Go RDJ!!!! I really find it hard to understand why they allowed a convicted rapist and violent man to film with him but not a man only guilty of arguing with an ex?

  • Lori

Praise to RDJ, I will see all of his movies except Due Date. RDJ = awesome actor and kind heart. Stay strong Mel. God Bless and protect Mel and Robert Downey Jr.

  • Teddy

Good for Downey to stand behind a friend but he should be a little more public about it. Gibson has apparently stood up for many friends and came to their aid financially also, so where are these people now. A real classy bunch of wimps out there in dollarworld…I mean Hollywood. Gibson will still be a real movie star when Gilwhatsisname is just a vague memory of some clown who was in some pop movie.

Zack C can go screw himself. I love Mel and RDJ and he should have been cast. Let’s see that fat piece of shit stay in the biz for 30 years. The guy will e washed up by hangover 3 and yesterday’s news. He’s lost me as a fan. And warners need to grow some balls – along with Todd.

I am happy that RDJ defended mel because that shows what true friends really are. They are always there for one another.
