JESSICA Simpson is desperate to be loved!

Sources say the singer — who recently announced her engagement to boyfriend Eric Johnson — probably paid for her $100,000 ruby-and-diamond Neil Lane engagement ring.

“No way could Eric, who doesn’t have a job at the moment, afford to purchase such an expensive ring,” a source told the PopEater website.

“Yes, he made a little bit of money in the NFL and is from a wealthy family, but unless his parents helped him out, Jessica must have paid for it herself.

“First, we find out that Jessica doesn’t want to have a prenup, and now we find out that she might have paid for her own ring. It just doesn’t feel right to me.

“We all want Jessica to be happy and finally find true love after all she has been through, but she doesn’t understand that in the long run if she pays for everything it will hurt her relationship with any man.”

Meanwhile, Jess is reportedly planning to walk down the aisle over the festive period because she doesn’t want it to be overshadowed by the nuptials between her ex-husband Nick Lachey and his new fiancee Vanessa Minnillo.

“She wants to beat Nick to the altar. She knows that it is going to be tough to pull everything together on such short notice, so it might have to be a New Years wedding,” a source said.

“In any case, she wants the focus to be on her wedding. She doesn’t want her wedding to be the aftermath of his.”

Sources also claim the Come On Over singer will spend a fortune on her big day as she doesn’t want to be upstaged by Nick and Vanessa, who announced their engagement two weeks before Jessica and Eric.

“It will be big and elaborate,” said the source. “She’ll spare no expensive for fear that Nick and Vanessa will outdo her. She’s already starting planning everything and has every family member working on her big day.”

This has already been debunked elsewhere. He bought it, not her. Could have been financed if he didn’t have the money and/or didn’t borrow it from his parents. That’s very common for expensive jewelry, especially engagement rings.

This article was extremely mean. I know the reporters have the “right” to report anything but that doesn’t mean they should. This article is all speculative. Eric Johnson was a pretty good NFL player and as a result made pretty good money, coming up with that ring probably wouldn’t have been a big deal, i mean think about it how many guys get rings for their girl that they can’t afford? Pretty much all of us. Secondly, SHE IS JESSICA SIMPSON! Most guys would give a testicle in order to just go on 1 date with her, can you imagine what guys would give up to marry her? Good gravy, she is ranked consistently as one of the most beautiful women in the world, she extraordinarily talented, good values, and seems to enjoy life when people aren’t ripping on her. Since when did Nick Lachey become the catch between Jessica and Nick? Looks could be deceiving!!She has lost the real man – Nick Lachey. The guy really loved him then. He never cheated and was always calm and respectful to her. We all saw that.
