DANE COOK NOT BOTHERED ABOUT BEING POUNDED BY DETRACTORS!

Posted by Adam

Dane CookDANE Cook is fully aware that massive popularity almost always gets counterbalanced by a comparably massive backlash.

“It’s almost weird to admit, but it becomes a bit of a badge of honor in a strange way,” he said. “I find the more that you have detractors and people pounding you, it’s kind of good for everybody. It keeps you in everybody’s discussion.

“It’s just with the Internet, I think, in this day and age we seem to see it with people like myself more because it’s all on the bathroom wall, so to speak, of Google searches and whatnot.

“But it’s always been there. It’s always going to be there. There’s always going to be the people that embrace you and fill an arena, and then there’s going to be people outside throwing an egg at it.”

Meanwhile, Cook is heading to Broadway.

The Hollywood funnyman will join Robin Williams onstage next year in a production of Neil LaBute‘s Fat Pig.

Josh Hamilton (Tom) will star alongside Cook, who is cast as Tom’s judgmental pal Carter.

Fat Pig premiered off-Broadway in 2004 and has been staged in Los Angeles, Boston and London’s West End.

LaBute’s films include Nurse Betty and Your Friends and Neighbors. He will direct the play.

Four characters make up the play, Helen, Tom, Jeannie and Carter. The unlikely love story sees Helen charm Tom with her confidence and wit, despite her plus-size shape.

Cook is an HBO stand-up special regular who has starred in My Best Friends Girl, Dan in Real Life, Good Luck Chuck, Mr. Brooks, and Employee of the Month.
