Olivia Wilde: ‘I’m a Princess’

Posted by Adam

Olivia WildeOLIVIA Wilde says she’s “technically a princess”.

The actress — who married Italian prince turned filmmaker Tao Ruspoli in 2003 — has revealed she has royal links.

“I am technically a princess, yes,” she said.

“But he’s not really an acting prince and so I’m not a proper princess. The title is obsolete now and just an aristocratic term. There’s lots of history which is nice, and it comes in handy for dinner reservations but that’s about it!”

Wilde recently insisted she doesn’t look sexy in her new movie Tron: Legacy — despite wearing a skintight glowing suit!

“The suits were built around our bodies and we had at least 11 fittings,” explains Olivia. “They were built piece by piece so that they felt like second skin.

“I soon figured that my character was going to be this lithe ninja type and not this voluptuous thing. So we got to whittle down some of the voluptuousness!

“Yes, she’s wearing heels because that’s a power thing but she had to be able to move and stretch. There’s nothing about her that’s sexy in the conventional way and I think that’s refreshing.”

Olivia Wilde does NOT have royal links. Her ex-husband was Tao Ruspoli, an ARISTOCRATIC prince. There is a HUGE difference between royalty and aristocracy. The only “royal” Italian princes are the deposed Princes of Savoy (Main branch and Aosta branch. The Princes of Bourbon-Two Sicilies are also Italian princes who once reigned in Italy. But to be honest, Tao Ruspoli’s claim to aristocracy is shaky at best; while the Ruspoli family is no doubt historical, the family has not practiced “equal” marriages to great success: his mother is a commoner and his father has American ancestors. I hardly call THAT lineage aristocratic or illustrious.
