IRON MAN 3: JON FAVREAU CONFIRMS HE WON’T BE DIRECTING IRON MAN 3

Posted by Adam

Jon FavreauDIRECTOR Jon Favreau has explained why he won’t be a part of Iron Man 3.

“It’s true, I’m directing Magic Kingdom, not Iron Man 3,” Favreau wrote on Twitter. “I’ve had a great run with Marvel and wish them the best.”

Magic Kingdom focuses on a family that’s trapped inside of Disneyland after closing hours, and much to their surprise, the theme park starts coming to life all around them.

Insiders have speculated that Jon’s resignation from the franchise has something to do with money. It’s believed he likely would command $12 million to $15 million up front, plus a 15 percent percent of the gross after the film recouped.

In a recent interview with MTV News, Favreau explained that based on his conversations with Marvel Studios executives, he had no clarity as to what a third Iron Man film would even be about.

“In theory, Iron Man 3 is going to be a sequel or continuation of Thor, Hulk, Captain America and Avengers,” he said at the time, “This whole world … I have no idea what it is. I don’t think they do either, from conversations I’ve had with those guys.”

I would not say that Iron Man 2 sucked, although I was not all that into ‘War Machine’. He seemed a little dull in spite of all of his guns. The opening of Iron Man 2 was one of the coolest openings I’ve ever seen. “I’m not saying that from the ashes of captivity, never has a Phoenix metaphor been more personified!” Classic. And who can forget Happy’s “That’s called dirty boxing”,
“booty boot camp” and ear biting payoff.

If superhero films are to portray the light-side of their character and contain alot of senseless dialogue and comedy than Favreau is the man…but if they are to portray the struggle in their lives that made them want to be a superhero in the first place and the tough foes they have to defeat than he needs to go. I’m just say’n…
