TRACY MORGAN: FUNNYMAN TRACY MORGAN RECOVERING AFTER KIDNEY TRANSPLANT

Posted by Adam

Tracy MorganTRACY Morgan is “doing well” after undergoing a kidney transplant on December 10.

And as a result of the surgery, Morgan will be forced to miss two episodes of 30 Rock — in which he plays Tracy Jordan.

Tina Fey and the other writers of the hit comedy plan to address Morgan’s absence on the show by saying he has some sort of a meltdown because of a good thing that’s happened to him, according to Entertainment Weekly magazine.

Morgan, who has diabetes, is said to be recovering from the surgery nicely. He was recently spotted at a New York Knicks basketball game.

“Tracy is doing well and taking some much needed time to recover after the surgery. He is looking forward to going back to work after the holidays,” his rep said.

Morgan told Time last year that during the first season of 30 Rock, he didn’t take his diabetes seriously.

“Then one day I got really sick,” the actor said. “The doctor was like, `Hey, listen, we may have to take your foot.’ That was it for me. Now I take my insulin every day. My blood sugar doesn’t get over 120.”

I’m glad he is okay, but why are others (i.e., non-celebrities) still on waiting lists for years? Did he, like some others, get special treatment? If so, someone is criminally responsible.

Not if the donor was a family member

I realize that, but where does it say the donor was a family member? I would think that would be part of the story if it were true. My point is that organs seem to magically become available for certain people…remember a few years ago when a 60′s singer, who had abused liquor and drugs for years got a SECOND liver transplant while others died waiting?

I wish him the very very best & a Blessed Christmas!!!!!

I am also on the transplant list for a kidney the & am happy when I hear these things but also I have to say a little ‘jealous’ too

My kidney diesease is not from diabetes but from a condition I was born with – polycystic renal disease.
Hopefully, hearing about these transplants will bring more people forward as donors – whether living or deceased -
You only need one kidney to live .
Being a donor once you die is also one of the gratest gifts you can give

I donated a kidney to my mom. The process took 3 mths from the time she told me she needed one, and most of that was b/c of a few projects I needed to rearrange at work. B/c they didn’t mention who donated the kidney doesn’t mean he got special treatment, although I do agree that in some instances it could depend on how much money you have, celebrity or not. I’m glad that he is doing well

I have PKD – Polycystic Kidney Disease and Diabetes. My father is on the waiting list for a kidney, he had PKD too..but they have taken out both kidneys so we know the need of kidney organ donations…

Hopefully Tracy will continue to do great and will be a testiment of the Great Gift of Organ donation…no matter who he got it from they are a HERO for saving a life!

    What a Great Christmas Gift!!
