Robert De Niro Ordered to Give Nanny $30,000 in Unpaid Overtime

Friday, January 21, 2011

Robert De NiroROBERT De Niro has been ordered by a court to give a nanny $30,000 in unpaid overtime.

The Goodfellas star and his wife Grace Hightower were sued by Alexis Barry, who claimed they never paid her for more than 750 hours of overtime for looking after their 12-year-old son, Elliott.

Manhattan Supreme Court in New York awarded the settlement, but released a stipulation forbidding either party discussing the case.

“The parties will keep the terms of this settlement confidential, as well as any matter related to Barry’s employment,” The stipulation said.

Alexis was hired by the couple in August 2006, earning $31.25 an hour, with a $46.88 overtime rate, to take care of their son. She worked for the couple for just under a year, before being fired in June 2007, two weeks after she informed them she was quitting.

Her lawsuit claimed Robert, 67, and Grace didn’t pay her for overtime or $496 in expenses. The court ordered the monies be paid by the end of yesterday.

Robert also has four children from past relationships.

Robert De Niro is like all the Hollywood crowd. He has the money and yet refuses to pay for the upkeep of his son. Disgusting. He thinks he is the God of Hollywood. After seeing him the other night on the awards, he made me sick. Instead of accepting his award and being humble, he was nasty and his comments were uncalled for. I guess being married to the “other” kind made him nasty. As far as I am concerned, I am glad the nanny got all the money,. He has it, pay.

      To: whatthen

Fair is fair and the nanny, in accordance to the law was entitled to and should be paid her money, but is that a litte racism I hear? To assume that being married to the “other” kind made him that way.

Making assumptions about the Hollywood crowd — people you have probably never met or know.

Can I make a guess simply by reading your loquacious comments that you are a miserable, jealous, broke, bitter and nasty Nazi?

Perhaps the simplicity of it is for all to just assume that you are ignorant just because you are simply you.
